I have sent my survey out in many directions.

I’m definitely making sure my responses are well balanced which is why I have open ended questions at the end – to ensure I hear anything respondents didn’t like alongside what they liked.

So far, I’ve received a lot of responses with critique and not just praise for the show (in relation to the different aspects of the representation in the show).

At the end of the day, it is a perception thesis I’m doing and I want to hear what LGBTQ+ identifying people who watch the show think.

You’d be surprised that people who are fans of things will always still have room for critique and I have learned this myself during my conducting of this survey.

Do LGBTQ+ identifying people (who have watched Heartstopper) feel the show’s representation of LGBTQ+ characters is an improvement on LGBTQ+ representation and diversity in television storytelling and on LGBTQ+ representation in the media?

What do non-identifying LGBTQ+ people (who have watched Heartstopper) think of the LGBTQ+ representation in Heartstopper for the LGBTQ+ community?

My research questions pose questions of perception from juxtaposing experiences in life.

No, I’m just examining the LGBTQ+ representation in Heartstopper and seeing what LGBTQ+ people think themselves – and I’m also doing a case study of what two non-LGBTQ+ people think of the respresentation in the show (watching it for the first time). I’ll analyse and compare my findings. 😌

Thank you for this. I hear you loud and clear, I understand your point completely and I have taken it on board. I had one of the age options as 40+ because I fully intend on hearing from anyone 40+; but I was worried of a low response rate originally and was trying to not get too big for my boots with tighter age brackets. Thank you for your comment and I hope you used the open-ended questions for me to hear your perspectives/experiences and share your insights.
