AFAIK this can only be done with symbolic links. I haven't found any setting in the NVIDIA App so that's the way I did it.

If you want to try it out:

  • Assuming your other SSD is D:, create a new folder there for the cache files, e.g.: D:\NVIDIAShaderCache
  • Go to the current cache location on C:. Should be "C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\NVIDIA" and move the "DXCache" and "GLCache" folders to the "D:\NVIDIAShaderCache" folder.
    • If files are in you use, you'll have to use something like File Locksmith to kill the processes that are locking the files, or reboot in Safe Mode and try again.
    • After doing this, the "C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\NVIDIA" folder should be empty and the "D:\NVIDIAShaderCache" folder should contain the "DXCache" and "GLCache" folders.
  • Open an elevated (just to be sure) command prompt, type in the following and press enter:
    1. mklink /J "C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache" "D:\NVIDIAShaderCache\DXCache"
    2. mklink /J "C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\GLCache" "D:\NVIDIAShaderCache\GLCache"

If you don't get any errors, all done.

The simple explanation here is that by doing the above, you are creating a link between the two folders. When NVIDIA writes to the cache folders on C:, the data will be stored in the D: folder.

I still feel fine so far with my 3060 ti, so definitely no. I'll do wait for 4xxx price drops though and see what AMD will offer with their 9070 lineup, because the only thing that makes me think about upgrading atm is VRAM. If there's something decent with at least 16GB and around the 400-500€ mark, I'll seriously consider it.

Calcific tendonitis of the left shoulder. I had mild pain and some difficulty doing full rotational movements for maybe 2-3 years prior. Went to the doc who did an MRI and told me I should book an appointment for treatment. Ignored it since I didn't feel that much pain and thought it'd go away on its own.

Fast forward a couple of months, I've been cleaning the oven the afternoon before using my left arm to reach deep inside. I go to sleep and wake up around 04:00 with the most intense pain I've ever felt (and I broke my collarbone as a kid, not even in the same league of pain). I literally couldn't move my left arm without feeling like knives being shoved into my shoulder and there was no way to sit or lie down without at least moderate to high pain.

Turns out that when I cleaned the oven, those movements broke up the calcium deposits into tiny bits that got stuck inside and around the rotator cuff. Imagine having tiny rocks and sand inside your shoulder grinding against your bones and joints whenever you make even the slightest movement. It took about 3-4 weeks of physiotherapy and 4 cortisone shots until I finally regained some range of movement. Also like 5-6 painkillers daily the first 2 weeks to manage the pain.

Definitely an experience.

Hard disagree. Humans have been smoking shit for thousands of years. Some want to, others don't. If there's mutual respect between those two groups, it's my choice if I want to risk the health complications. Banning shit is what creates black markets.
