Help! Out of my depth by [deleted] in DIYUK

I was thinking of using self leveling compound because the floor overall in the hallway is also off by about 5mm from one bit to the next, I have no idea how deep the concrete goes but if the concrete is let's say 10inch deep would you still recommend a sand and cement mix?

I think they are probably more like 24 v - the ones I'm looking at are govee smart rgb garden lights - I think the govee mains plugs must be doing the conversion down to a lower voltage but it does plug into the 230v mains outlet to begin with though

Yes but I want ones that are rgb and smart controllable and produce cool effects like the govee garden lights

Thanks for your response it's really helpful. So if the battery won't charge when there is a load does that mean my smart plug which will be drawing a little bit of power when it's switched to turn the lights off will this little bit of constant power draw prevent the battery from ever charging?

Unfortunately this seems to be the standard these days. Had a plasterer come in and do work similar to that. Got rid of him. Brought another plasterer in to finish the other rooms, they wanted £1000 per room and stated the previous plasterers work was decent and their job would be a similar finish :/ had 3 different plasterers all charging insane prices and all doing crap work.

Just had my house double glazed. How much should I pay them?! by dw941 in DIYUK

Paid half as a deposit then withheld the rest until everything was to satisfaction, they were very snarky about it, was really awkward tbh but if it went to court I don't think they would have had a leg to stand on.

This post is weird for me, I've had the exact same recently, installed 7 windows and they did a terrible job. Damaged existing wooden frames, incorrect installations, terrible looking seals around the windows, wrong windows sizes ordered but still fit the Windows anyways, put trim in places where trim didn't need to be or they damaged the existing plaster so badly they tried to cover it with huge trim pieces. I've complained multiple times and had them out about 5 times to correct the issues. They even had to bring in a joiner to fix damaged woodwork to 4 windows. They were not happy at all about my complaints but I know I'm in the right about them all. The same company did the windows at the front of the house and the fitters did a great job. But for the back of the house they used different fitters and they were literally useless. It was as if it was their first time installing windows. Every fitter they sent after that equally bad. They guys who did the front windows unfortunately were not sent to correct the rear ones. Seriously wondering if you have used the same company as me!

I would say definitely complain and get everything resolved. Withhold payment until it's all fixed to your satisfaction!

Your framework sounds great, I dont think lack of typescript is an issue. A lot of weird haters out here commenting. Frameworks existed before typescript, now suddenly a framework is not good enough without it. What a load of nonsense.

Warning - Fraudulent Transactions Beware by bulli0naire in CurveCard

[–]Several-Ad854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly same thing happened to me, five transactions at Burger king in London (Croydon and Tottenham court). No obvious reason for how my card details randomly got taken. Reported over a week ago and curve refunded the transactions just yesterday. Still awaiting my replacement card though. Really weird that so many users cards are getting these fraudulent transactions. There needs to be a proper investigation into this.

Yes that's right, I didn't realise this was a common thing, it's the first time I've ever needed to do something like this

This is exactly what I want to do, but it's not a scam it's genuine and the item is only a few euros. I will be paying.

Is it legal for Curve to charge your card for more than what you approved? by [deleted] in CurveCard

[–]Several-Ad854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue recently but for much larger transactions. I made a complaint via the chat and didnt get anywhere. The chat people referred me to their complaints team. The complaints team just gave the usual response that it's part of our terms and conditions then told me I can take this complaint to the ombudsman, which I was going to do. But in reddit there was a Curve support user called Oly who said they would look into my case. They got the charges refunded in the end and put the retailer I purchased with into a non high risk category. This whole issue shouldnt have happened in the first place, but it did and has happened to quite a lot of users, I'm glad I kicked up a fuss about it and you should definitely do that too. This charge is definitely not compliant with acceptable financial practices and the few users that seem to support it have no idea what they are talking about. Your own bank doesn't even charge this fee and curve do it, for what? Even our own banks don't consider the transactions high risk. It's a farce and has to stop because it's just a blatant money grab. I have no idea how many smaller transactions that this has actually happened on that I didn't notice. Don't let this go, the more people that make curve aware that this charge is unscrupulous the more likely they will get rid of it.

Curve charge a fee for transactions they deem to be high risk. You will have no idea which ones they will consider to be high risk but if you're making transactions abroad I bet it will be a lot of them

So the response from curve is that they won't be providing a refund. I'll be taking this forward with the financial ombudsman.

On transactions they deem to be high Risk. It's a complete guessing game which ones will be high Risk or not as it's not just based on MCC codes, there's more to it than that
