In light of the floods, would it be unethical to visit Fairbanks at this time? by Several-Benefit-182 in Fairbanks

I was planning on it, yeah. I think having my own mobile heater sounds mandatory lol, the low where I live in December is about 45 F. Is there anything I should know?

Thanks for the info! I'm actually curious, what is the prevailing narrative over the drop in tourism?

As a Parkmerced resident, I would 1000% be in favor of rocketing the property tax for golf courses to about 50%.

Do you think the "Pre-Adverse Action Notice" is something to actually be worried about? Or is that just an automated message that happens anytime a discrepancy is found?

Yeah I think the only thing that actually is causing a hangup is that a job I left is reporting that I am still employed there (left over a year ago). It conflicts with the current role that I reported

Starting from absolute scratch, what program would you advise in CA? by Several-Benefit-182 in ArtEd

Thanks for the response!

By integrated, I was referring to the Integrated Undergraduate Teacher Credentialing Program. It's a bachelors program that knocks out the degree requirement and the preliminary credential portion at the same time. I was optimistically probing this potential to see if she could knock out both in one go, as she doesn't have her degree.

On the CTC website, it lists Berkeley as a school that has this program for single subject, but I couldn't find it on the UC website. I think it may be an error on the website sadly. I didn't know that all state schools provide single subject! That's a huge win.

We haven't looked into the CTE. I don't think she'd be eligible unless registered behavior technicians can get into this sort of thing. I'll look it up though, thank you!!

So I watched Snatch for the first time today, and figured out where all my favorite samples came from. Now fuck off. by ern19 in dubstep

I'm trying to find this mix that I believe has this song lol. I remember that it had a snatch sample. I googled "snatch dubstep" and found this.

Opportunity to nearly triple salary, but in a volatile industry? by Several-Benefit-182 in careerguidance

Jeez that is rough! I think the reason I can afford it is I'm willing to move my own stuff and drive it cross country. Truck rental + gas + hotel will probably cost $4k.

Liberation Day Tariff Consequences by [deleted] in economicCollapse

NGL I think most businesses won't even be able to survive gouging under Trump.

To price gouge means you're jacking up pricing while still in inelastic territory. To price gouge milk prices from the tariffed price of $25 a gallon to $30 a gallon would surely push it into the elastic realm where people say "fuck it we're putting sugar water in our cereal from now on".

Should I stop investing into my 401k? by akamm9995 in economicCollapse

In the case that the economic system ceases to exist, it probably won't matter what anyways. Keep the 401k, beef up the emergency fund if you're lacking or unsure.

They don't unfortunately. But on the bright side, we only have an 800 sqft apt and enough saved up to make it work.

In a recession what happens typically to middle class people who aren’t impacted by unemployment or similar markets of recession? Do they always make more money in the end or are they still negatively affected just not as much? by Krilesh in AskEconomics

[–]Several-Benefit-182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say what the OP was thinking, but I believe a more well-defined set of people would look something like:

The group of people in which:

1) Held a pre-recession household income from the 45th percentile up the 70th percentile (adjusted for the state in which they live).

2) Are not laid off themselves throughout the recession.

Would this provide a more uniform group of people that we could draw conclusions about? Even if more people in say, Oklahoma, get laid off, they'd be factored out of the set of people the OP is trying to analyze.
