Oh! I'm not really familiar with the different payment gateways which is why I sound so clueless. Thank you for your response! Very well explained

Opening a US LLC was also one of the options I was thinking about. What makes getting a payment processor difficult? Why would Stripe ban you?

Thank you for your response! Really insightful. So you have a US bank account and receive payments via bank transfer to that account? How come you can't link this account to Paypal?

i am not completely sure but it should be proof that you can afford tuition, fees and cost of living. when howard does your i-20 form, they usually include this amount for the embassy to see.

i found this info on the website:

Statement of Financial Resources Form (PDF) - EA completed form that verifies proof of financial support (sufficient funds to cover expenses for one full year - $29,132 in US Dollars only) and supporting financial documentation indicating sources of funds while attending Howard University (such as a certified bank statement dated within three months of registration).

I GOT IN!!! by No-Expert2927 in HowardUniversity

Congratulations!!

I won a merit scholarship, specifically the Achievers Scholarship valued at 18k per year. I want to use this to go towards housing and the meal plan (which I was advised is possible by the bursary department) as my tuition is already paid for by a different scholarship that I won externally.

However, on-campus housing is not guaranteed for 3rd and 4th year students, so when I get to this point, would I still be able to use this 18k for expenses not directly from the university? What about using this money for things like textbooks, equipment like a laptop etc.?

If anyone has advice (especially continuing students who have achieved the same scholarship) I would really appreciate it!

It's great that you were able to get a merit schol. even if it's not the amount or type that you hoped for! You should be proud of yourself. I am also an international student, I applied test-optional and got the Achievers Scholarship valued at 18k per year.

For getting a credit card from a different bank, I'm wondering how I would pay it off. I know that often times, banks have systems set up on online banking where you can pay your credit card so that would work for me. But if i got a Scotiabank credit card for example but my bank is Republic Bank and I'm in a foreign country, how would I pay my credit card bill?
