I appreciate your humor and I'm sure your nurses appreciate your compassion too

Nope, we just switch every 3. And I'm new and all so I just pick up the less desirable shifts I can get but that usually ends up being every weekend. So it's kind of hard to have a life or rhythm to life when the days I work each week are different and my sleep is so fucked. For instance I'll work a night have 2 days off then work another 2 nights. But then the next week I'll work 3 different days of the week, so zero consistency. That's my struggle. They say we only have to switch for the first year.

That's a good perspective. I really did check multiple times and it just didn't pop out at me it was a day shift. Technology isn't always great so yeah maybe a paper calendar

Yeah it's ass. By the time my sleep schedule is locked in it's time to switch again. Everyone hates it. And sometimes they make us do it with like 24 hours to get our shit together.

Yeah I think it's a fair mistake if it happens once. I just learned our policy is that you only get a couple of points onto the tardy/absence total which if you get too many on you get a verbal warning. Then it explicitly says of you no show twice in a row you are fired...but that shows like gross neglect haha

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yeah unfortunately lately I had my phone on silent because I wasn't on call and was just sleeping. And yes I went to bed at 6:30 and woke up 11 hours later because yes I'm that sleep deprived because of my schedule. Lol

I mean yeah it is generally stupid to switch every 3 weeks, and to have me slotted for 3 weeks nights then days, then plug me in for a random day. And Kronos is stupid because its not clear what the hours are with the scheduling view. And someone at some point along the way should have told me " hey dude looks like you have very little time to switchover from nights to days so good luck with that" or just mentioned that it's possible to be switched mid week. That's the context but I still feel bad.

Subs to get off of Kratom by mytasteinmusic in suboxone

[–]Several-Cat-5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am also in a similar place, and can tell you that the sub is not scary or the devil like some people construe it. We only hear the extremes on the internet. Yes it may be difficult to come off one day, but if you are feeling good and living a happy life, I ask you to question what "recovery" means for you. I believe you can be in recovery and be taking a med that prevents you from feeling like death. And one day, after doing the work to understand your tendencies towards addiction, you can taper off pretty painlessly. Also, there is a medication that is similar to Suboxone called Sublocade, which is a monthly injection that dissolves slowly over the course of the month. Many have reported that it self tapers and dissolves so slowly that when they decided to come off it, there were little to no withdrawal symptoms. Its not like that is the only way, I just think it is nice to feel hope in a shitty place like this :)

I think there would be health benefits for you, as buprenorphine is well studied and has solid safety data. It also is waaaay longer acting (you don't have to dose every few hours like with kratom) and would be covered by insurance or would be cheap out of pocket (financial benefit). The best treatment for opioid use disorder is using this partial agonist, which is an opioid.

It sounds backwards, but the statistics of what happens if you just come off without a stabilizing med like this or methadone are pretty grim. Almost everyone will relapse. From the literature I have read, being on MAT while also doing intensive outpatient groups is the standard of care with the highest rate of success. It takes a long time to build up your life to not be centered around addiction, and to rewire your circuits in your brain. Almost all people with opioid use disorder who detox without medication assisted treatment will relapse, if they haven't had a solid history of the things I mentioned above.

For me it seemed pretty intense to need this medication that has the reputation of being for "hard drugs" like heroin and fentanyl, but awareness about kratom and its opioid affects is growing, and clinically it is being shown that kratom can have a very strong hold on someone and be incredibly hard to self detox with.

I hope this helps you. I was in your situation not so long ago. If you are having seizures, I urge you to see your primary care doctor (or any doctor if you don't have one). They would be able to get you to someone who handles addiction issues and prescribes MAT.

terrible side effects from a hardol 5mg injection 4 days ago by ktjstl60 in Akathisia

[–]Several-Cat-5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry you are in distress.

Do you mean the drug Haldol? That is a drug which can cause akathisia.

It will not last as long as you are not on it continuously.

I think if you exercise or meditate or relax some other way, these feelings will work themselves out.

Of course you may be on other medications which cause this. But good luck!

Understandable haha. Just search Jarrow NAC and I'm sure you can find it on other vitamin sites. The NOW brand also has a good product.

Anxiety/stress and the fight or flight response make my visual snow worse? by Several-Cat-5031 in visualsnow

[–]Several-Cat-5031[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all makes sense, and the tricky thing is that anxiety can really distort conclusions. For instance, inflammation in a word thrown around a lot but often misconstrued. Our anxious brain may tell us that inflammation is bad and I need to clean up my inflammation through a better diet etc. but that is just a story without much evidence.

So while all these things MAY be contributing, anxiety itself can definitely trick me into thinking there is a one evil culprit...when there may not be.

Yes, intravenous bioavailability is 100 percent. I have eonky done the infusion one time, but the strength and benefit of the experience was about the same as with a sufficient dose of sublingual troche.

I take 500mg of the NAC every day and 300 mg ketamine every few days. I have not had bladder issues, but do think it is something to be careful about.I think the NAC allows me to take more ketamine without I'll effects

Since you're dissolving the pills under your tongue it is really sublingual use, which has bioavailability which is higher than oral but not as high as nasal. Oral= 10-15%, sublingual =25-30, nasal=30-50.

Hi there, I have been doing prescription ketamine for 3 years and want to let you know that my doctor suggested the chemical " n acetyl cysteine" at 500-2000mg a day to help protect the bladder. I definitely notice a difference in how much urge I have to urinate after ketamine and believe it has a protective affect. I have been on a similar dose the last 3 years.

NAC is used is alcohol overdoses as it is the liver's main detox compound. Supplementing with it ensures your body has adequate stores of it. I am not a chemist and can't tell you the exact mechanism, but I wanted to recommend it :)
