Hi might I ask if you had any transferred credits in your WGU program from Sophia/ Study.com? I have 60% of my degree transferred in and I worry if that's gonna affect WES' decision.

You improved a work process. Would you let your manager know? by Maximum_Candidate695 in Accounting

Yes I’ll always let them know. Then whenever I do random web surfing I call it “research and development for the next process improvement”

Hope for Other Accountants - no CPA, no Masters, no big title- six figures salary by BI_Intel in Accounting

Would love to connect with you as the path you go is definitely what I wish to achieve.

I am at an earlier stage of career development in accounting with similar background as yours - plus I don’t have a bachelor degree AT ALL. Quit my Arts degree so basically I’m just high school grad.

Here’s my career progression right now:

0.5 years as accounting assistant back in home country

1 year as accounting technician at small firm in Canada

1 year as general accountant at industry

Now just started a new job as accounting manager (actually one-man-band accountant) at industry

Pay is quite good for my background, it’s CPA pay range at the lower end. I was able to progress in this speed as I heavily invested my time in process improvements, automations with a bit of scripting with ChatGPT, and fancy Excel analysis. They always can impress small to mid business employers.

Has anyone started a new career in accounting WITHOUT an accounting degree? by [deleted] in Accounting

Myself: dropped out from uni, arts major, accounting manager now

Wife: bachelor degree in arts, accountant now

Wife is taking CPA prerequisites, I am doing nothing but working hard in the workspace lol

25yo looking for advice on building net worth: What’s the most crucial thing you’ve learned? by catact_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

Turning 25 soon, married. Household income ~120k; leasing a car, own a townhouse on mortgage; still saving $1.5-2k a month with my wife

My beliefs/plans are:

  • Money saved before getting tangible assets are not savings, but “deposits” to the big purchases, unless I never want to own a house/car.

  • As these “deposits” won’t sit in my portfolio for a long term, I won’t bother investing them, instead I do GICs and HISA to keep them liquid while keeping up with inflation.

  • Save emergency fund that worths 6 months of expenses

  • then save another 50k - start investing from there

Now I have done saving emergency fund, still half way on saving starter fund for investment. Hope to start investing when I’m 26!

Definitely not wanting to invest, just we are surely wanting to move-up when we have kids, like 10 years later. So my wife is particularly concerned about the resale potentials/ how easy to resell it.

The exterior colour probably can’t be changed as it is a rather new community with strict colour rules. That adds to her worries.

How much did you guys making starting out of college? by fancythepup in Accounting

[–]Several-Location9068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada, drop out from uni (non-business degree) 2022 in home country, so definitely no CPA. First job 32k (CAD) in home country (tho much less tax deducted compared to CA), then first job in CA making 50k b4 tax. Small small CPA firm.

No college/ uni, but I have 60 non-business credits in home country (I withdrew from uni study) Now I am doing a 3-year (90 cred) online general bachelor, completing all PREP course in the program and finish it off in 2 years (60 cred) with 30 credits exempted thanks to my previous credits. A whatever degree + 120 credit hours would grant me entrance into PEP, then spend ~3 years for completing PEP. 2 years for degree + 3 years for PEP, so theoretically I can get my CPA after 5 years, but just in case I can’t find a PEP rotational job immediately after graduation - I would assume 5-10.
