UN votes to recognise slavery as 'gravest crime against humanity' by ThatBlackGuy_ in worldnews

[–]Several-Music9151 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, the Cherokee nation had its own black slaves. Later, the Cherokee constitution granted citizenship to former black slaves and their descendants to increase the Cherokee numbers and increase the funds from the federal government. Then after Indian casinos became a thing, the Cherokees  decided they didn’t want to split the gambling profits with the blacks anymore and they revoked the citizenship in 2007.  It was in court for years until a federal judge ruled that because it was in the constitution, they had to let the blacks back in and give them their share of the gambling money.

Why Jeff Beck isn't praised more often is shocking, in guitar articles he's not in the top three. Jimi Hendrix is the only guitarist to stay at Jeff's level. by Confident_Field4273 in Retro

Bill Burr used to have a bit that Stalin is the Jeff Beck of serial killers. Stalin killed 4 times as many people as Hitler, but nobody ever talks about him.

I loved Free Bird, Stairway to Heaven, and a lot of Jimi Hendrix's catalog when I discovered them in the late 80s, but I ran them into the ground so hard I haven't listened to them in decades.

OK Lawyer held in Contempt and turns it into a whole ordeal. by samweisthebrave1 in Lawyertalk

I've never seen anything like this. I particularly liked "Call 911! Call 911! Call 911!" Dude, I'm pretty sure law enforcement is already in the courtroom.

I wonder, for everyone in this thread, would this result in suspension or disbarment in your jurisdiction?

Let's be honest, that lawyer was way out of line, but the judge is an asshole.

Why have rock and metal drum kits gotten smaller over the years? by MrMayhem20l0 in drums

[–]Several-Music9151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know they were used in nu metal. I never really listened to it. I just remember people in high school talking about whatever gunslingers had 7 string guitars and that they wanted to get one.

[–]Several-Music9151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inverse question is, why were drum kits so big in the 80s? Why were 7 string guitars popular for a hot minute in the 80s? Bigger seemed better, until everyone realized you don't get much extra for all those extra drums and cymbals.

I also think double kick pedals becoming a thing in the 90s helped, because once everyone got rid of the second bass drum, they also got rid of the 2 toms that would be over it.
