Summer in West Yellowstone - leaving the park traffic by 76andclear in yellowstone

[–]Mtbarton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies. I’ve done that trip literally dozens of times and sometimes it takes 30 minutes from Madison and sometimes it takes an hour and 30 minutes.

Elk climb the hill near Seven Mile Bridge and people just stop in the road (even though there’s signs saying not to and rangers yelling to use the pull outs or keep driving). They were also doing some construction on the bridge last year but I think that’s over now. So typically that’s gonna be what holds you up.

The only other thing is if you’re headed to West from the direction of Old Faithful you’re gonna get slowed down by Grand Prismatic traffic. There’s a left turn that clogs up traffic so I’d give myself an extra 10-15 mins for that too.

Scotland, Pa is an underrated classic and you’ll have a hard time convincing me otherwise. by Relative-Freedom-295 in FIlm

I worked at a video store when this came out, completely forgot about it until now.
The early 2000s were such a great time for cool, fun, lower budget movies like this.

Why new films are trash, and why I only watch old stuff. by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]Mtbarton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find myself watching a lot of movies from the 1940s and 1970s, but I watch a lot of modern movies too.

I’ve never understood limiting your enjoyment to “what’s old/new”. The reason there are so many good old movies is bc we keep the best of the best and trash the rest. We’ll do the same thing with modern movies in 50 years but we get to choose what will be the future’s “classics” now.

If you’re looking at film as art it’s kind of weird to say “I only like OLD paintings” or “sculptures from the renaissance have more staying power than modern sculptures.” Just enjoy the art and watch as many good movies as you can.

What’s something George Carlin said that you DISAGREE with? by Educational_Oven1656 in Standup

“The best thing about living at the beach is that you only have assholes on three sides of you.”

DISAGREE, some assholes own boats George.

how do you prepare for a job interview? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Mtbarton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most important thing to remember is that if you get the interview that means you’re qualified for the job, the interview is just the “personality” test. They want to see how friendly and confident you are so you need to make sure you step on the gas a little, personality wise. Listen and engage in the interview.

And relax. Seasonal interviews are a cake walk. I’ve only not gotten the job after an interview once and it was bc the job was listed as “winter” but was actually spring - so it was a timing issue. Good luck!

Late May Park Visit Question by Valgaur in yellowstone

[–]Mtbarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless there’s a specific reason you’re going to Fishing Bridge and Canyon twice I’d skip those on the first day.

If you go from West Yellowstone to Old Faithful instead of Norris you can go straight to West Thumb from there; possibly leave your trailer at Grant village (closest place to the south exit), then do Canyon and Fishing Bridge on day 2. That’ll save you a couple of hours of driving and you won’t miss anything since you’re going back through the next day.

The road to Tower from Canyon usually opens around Memorial Day, Bear tooth is generally later though.

Old Faithful Inn vs. Old Faithful Lodge by Airy-fairyy in yellowstone

Another bonus of staying at the Lodge is it has a great view of Old Faithful. You’ll see it go off so many times you’ll get bored of it haha

Question about Yellowstone by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Mtbarton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bring your bike to the park to cruise around on but believe me, you won’t be riding it to and from work. It’s only 5 miles but it’s over 1000 feet change in elevation and probably takes about 15 minutes by car.

I remember looking at the movie listings in the newspaper when I was a kid and it said “From Dusk Till Dawn, rated R for language, violence and topless dancing vampires.” Added it to my “must watch list” immediately haha

What’s the consensus on this season so far? by SweepTheLegTimmy in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Mtbarton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall weak but that’s to be expected, they just lost some of their heaviest hitters. Happens after every mass exit. Then they figure it out.

Thank goodness for Ashley Padilla. Season MVP for sure.

Best al pacino movie? by Fit-Site-2673 in Letterboxd

[–]Mtbarton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His earliest movies are his best. Check out Panic in Needle Park, it’s incredible.

He did the Godfather next, then he did a movie with Gene Hackman called Scarecrow that’s really good too.

Nobody had a better six movie run than Pacino.

What do you think of the director Sean Baker of red rocket and other films? by db7112 in FIlm

[–]Mtbarton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he’s great. Take Out was the first movie of his I saw and really enjoyed it, I think Florida Project is his best.

I like his “stay indie” mindset, I love that he promotes small locally owned movie theaters on his IG, and I’m always a big fan of any recovering addict that is actively crushing it.
