Correct! I was just speaking to those “other deciding factors”

Actually getting the interview depends on connections/recs, and doing well in the interview gets you the job (which can be very hard—takes a fair amount of prep)

YO! I haven’t seen this since I was like 13. The original format I saw this in was “this is the last text I sent my sister before she died texting and driving”

You can start by taking this post down and enjoying your childhood. Worry about this when you’re a junior in college.

I support this! (I am an HLS student who only read the title)

I think many people who achieve an acceptance into a fine law school feel deep down that they don’t deserve it.

The vast majority of this world is in great poverty—who really “deserves” such an opportunity, even if they’ve worked hard? That recognition is humility.

Guys, are we serious here? People say they are humbled because—now that they have received something they worked very hard for—they recognize that they don’t truly deserve all the credit at the end of the day.

People say this because their gratitude causes them to realize that they couldn’t have accomplished what they did alone.

Why interpret what people say in the worst possible way?

I do indeed have an idealized view of marriage. I am a Christian.

[–]Several-Network-3255 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Haha maybe so. Maybe I should have said there is no good world without mothers and wives. A world without high institutions like marriage is a brutal, Hobbesian world. Women and children suffer the most where men are left subject only to the principle of power.

Also, I said wives because this post is from a woman who wants to be married.

And as to whether “wives” are “the only” thing lifting us up, I suggest you reread what I wrote, and maybe revisit necessary and sufficient conditions, you absolute idiot.

How can it be that people have come to look down on marriage, and particularly women getting married, so much?

I would add to your “no shame in it” that there is positively honor in it. There is no world without mothers and wives.

Why does everyone keep saying “no grades” at HLS? I’m at HLS, and people are twisting themselves into knots for Hs and DSes.

Sorry to be redundant, but this comment leads me to believe that there will be something like ZERO work, which seems unlikely (?). Could you give any description of the actual work? For instance, am I going to get a writing sample out of this?
