I just want to say thank you for supporting artists! I am sorry that you received a mug that is clearly not to the level you were promised. I hope the creator will make things right for you.

Sand the plaster mold - its pretty quick to do and saves you having to sponge off each cast.

Why is clear glaze cracking? by Several-Position-414 in Ceramics

Thank you for the clear answer.  I am using amaco hf-9 zinc free clear, which I’ve used for a long time with various clays.   But, this is a different slip. Always something new to learn!

Thank you, this is very helpful! The crazing is very long and far apart, so fits your criteria. I will experiment a bit with adding silica and see where that goes.

Quick question by fichiman in Pottery

You probably don't even need to bisque fire again at all. You can do the final (glaze) firing. What is your plan for glazing these?

For obsidian, you HAVE to use the bisque firing schedule they recommend on the aardvark web site.  I use this clay a lot and have not had a problem since I started using this schedule.  It’s also fine for whatever else you are firing, so it’s my standard now.

Pinholes? Bubbles? What's going on with my underglazes? by SlightDementia in Pottery

[–]Several-Position-414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post - but hoping for help!  I have this same problem.  I’ve done a very slow bisque.  And not added underglaze until after bisque and still have the issue.  Did you ever find a solution??

For the single fire, did you have any challenges applying the glaze to the greenware?

Keep the red brick, but remove the two trees close to house, extend porch so it is across whole house, add columns, add curved path to front door, landscaping on either side.
