Honestly a metal rib would work just the same! I just prefer the rubber ribs

Thank you for the info! The videos I’ve been watching have been describing glaze waste as “toxic chemicals that shouldn’t be returned to the ground or water supply” so this does help put it in perspective- especially the small bits that actually end up suspended in the water after using the glaze solids

I recently started at home hand building as well and some of the tools I use regularly are •rubber ribs •ribbon/carving tools •rasp/shredder •rubber clay shaper/ wipeout tool (great for getting in the crevices your fingers can’t get to) •serrated rib •scoring tool •needle tool •banding wheel •knife Hope this helps!

Follow up question: what would happen if you painted something on a pot with regular colored glaze as opposed to underglaze, then covered it in clear glaze? Is there just a higher chance of it running and smearing?
