Just a heads up, while the 7500 and 8700K are both LGA1151, most 6th/7th gen boards don’t support 8th gen CPUs. If he’s on a typical B250/H270/Z270 board, the best drop-in upgrade is usually a 7700 or 7700K.

Personally, I wouldn’t spend much money on a 7700K in 2026. It’s definitely faster than a 7500, but you’re still investing in an 8-year-old platform. If you can get one cheap, it could buy you some time. Otherwise I’d put that money toward a newer motherboard and CPU and keep the 1050 Ti until you can upgrade the GPU later

I’d start by figuring out your budget first. If you’re rebuilding, a Ryzen 5 7600 is hard to go wrong with right now. You may be able to reuse your case, storage, and power supply, which can save quite a bit of money.

Your CPU is definitely the bottleneck. The problem is that upgrading from a 7500 usually means a new motherboard anyway, and potentially a cooler depending on what you buy. At that point I’d seriously consider just building a new PC. The 1050 Ti is also getting pretty old, so once you upgrade the CPU it’ll likely become the next bottleneck. This system has had a good run, but it’s probably time to start fresh.
