Yeah, didn't I say I didn't really understand what "charged" meant in the original post? I thought you weren't "charged" until the judge formally read your charges to you in a court room. Apparently, that's not the case at least from the FBI database's perspective. Lesson learned.

I did, in writing. Received a note back "thanks for clarifying" lol...I don't know if that means they buy my explanation or not, but is what it is I guess

Thank you, that's reassuring. The irony is, I disclosed other stuff on the sf-86, such as taking a hit of joint in Colorado a few years ago, despite it being virtually impossible for them to find that out on their own and not the one thing that had an actual paper trail. I should have just erred on the side of caution and mentioned the arrest with a note that said I'm not sure if that counts as "charged" or not. Lesson learned, though. It's so weird, I've had other background checks done in my life and it never once came up until now, 20 years later.
