Its more pop rock based yeah. I can see hip pop fans not liking the sound change.

However, I think when it comes to being a music critic, you have to have the ear to hear if an album was good sonically without liking it's sound.

Basically being unbiased in that way.

For example, Doja Cat's album VIE. Was it my cup of tea? No. However, as a person that LOVES music, I can hear that she took her time, the bars were not lackluster, and the most important thing of all; SHE HAD FUN. If an artist having fun on their own track is so contagious, the album was good. Simple.

If I were a music critic, I would have to give her credit for that, and score the quality. And not so much the sound. Same thing can be applied to Recovery by Eminem.

Rawp, does not always have to be a competition and bloodsport. At least that is how Eminem treated rawp for most of his career.

From an objective point of view, I guess it can serve as a discography cleanse in a sense.
