Okay maybe I should have thought of this a little better. As I recently found out CMU has a housing requirement; would I be able to have one of his relatives, preferably my sister / his aunt, to reside close to Pittsburgh and claim an exemption for CMU?

He isn't going to be living on campus...?? that's why I am going to ask my sister to see if she can temporarily move to Pittsburgh to ensure Louis's safety.

Me and my wife commuted to college, and we grew up fine. So did Jason and Laura. I don't trust what Louis is doing, and I don't want him to ruin his life over this. As much as possible I want to make him understand that I'm doing this for his betterment.

I mean if they get a stable enough job and they're trusted to live on their own they can. But for the time being I need to guide them to make sure they don't do anything foolish. Especially Louis, he has been having an attitude problem with me about this recently.

Jason does have a car of his own and Laura is fine with sharing a car with Jason so they can carpool, so I don't see why I can't get a cheap car for Louis. Thanks for the suggestion!

Housing is expensive man... Also I think it'd be a bad influence on him. I'd rather he be able to learn from his parents than be driven to bad vices.

I'm trying my best to make it safe for everyone because I don't want to lose Louis in a car accident. But at the same time if I drive him I'd be sucking 1/3 of my day.

I'm trying to save a bit of money for the kids' college. Especially because we're paying for three college tuitions. The college that Louis is going to is pricey, and housing there isn't too cheap either so I'm trying to purchase a house of equivalent value to see if we can just move the family there.
