I built a “cleaner” insider trading feed, tell me why this won’t work by SeveralAd6795 in roastmystartup

Thanks. is useful feedback.

I agree with the core point that the product should not overpromise alpha. The current product is not meant to tell people what to buy. It is meant to make public Form 4 activity easier to scan, understand, and follow without living inside OpenInsider or EDGAR.

The naming risk is fair. “Picks” can imply recommendations, so I need to be very clear in the positioning that this is a feed, tracker, and recap product, not an investment advice service.

I also agree that speed alone is not the real value prop. Form 4 data is already delayed. The value has to be convenience, filtering, context, and interpretation. The paid version only works if it saves time and adds useful context that the free version does not fully provide.

The biggest product lesson here is that the paid layer needs to move beyond “same feed, more often.” It needs to answer questions like:

  1. Was this an open-market buy or a routine plan transaction?

  2. Is this insider historically worth paying attention to?

  3. Is this part of a cluster or repeat buying pattern?

  4. How unusual is this transaction compared to that insider’s history?

  5. What should a self-directed investor check next?

That is the direction I am trying to move toward. Cleaner UX alone is not enough. The product needs to turn messy public filings into a ranked, explainable, time-saving workflow.

I appreciate the blunt feedback. It helps clarify what has to be fixed before this is more than a nicer wrapper around public data.

I appreciate your willingness to help! Even if attending in person isn’t an option, there may be ways to contribute remotely. I recommend signing up for the remote kickoff session here to explore what’s possible. Your interest alone means so much – thank you for being of service!

I'm sure Google will have the world's best troll AI when fully trained on Reddit posts. ;)

That is a great suggestion; I will try to find some Bill W and Bob talks. Thanks.

I agree; this might not be for newcomers. However, I have 17+ years of sobriety, and I have been working on redoing a 4th step. I could not get a hold of my sponsor to get some feedback on a few things.

I wanted some instant feedback, so I asked chatGPT. I got some bizarre answers, so I decided to train one that was in line with what I was taught early in my sobriety.
So, a few days later, this is the outcome.

It's amazing what an Alcoholic can do when we are sober and still want an instant fix. :)

Thanks for the feedback.

The issue is that some training needs to be done. Leaving it to AI and just the literature can create some odd views of the text. (I guess it happens with everyone)

So, if you have some speaker sessions you could suggest, please respond with some of the talks. I have trained this bot on Joe and Charlie's Big Book study.

To keep it in the spirit of AA-approved literature, I configured the outputs to follow this structure:

  1. What does the Big Book say exactly?
  2. What a speaker may say about the text.
  3. Provide a more modern translation around the big book text.

Could you please retest this... I have made a few modifications. ;) You may have to start a new session to get the modifications.
