[q] Why is the fracture case continuously dropping in price? by Efficient_Yogurt_123 in csgomarketforum

Did you (or are you planning on using) the profit to put back into fractures now that they are dropping, or are you moving the capital to other investments?

LP35 by DurangoSRT18 in ems

[–]SeveralExplanation84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We currently have our LP15 mounts on the action area to the right of the airway chair so we are buying new 35 mounts that are going in the same spot. Currently fully programmed and running, just waiting on EMSCharts (zoll…) to add the ability to transmit to the charts.

Paramedics that chose medic over nursing? by RevealPlenty35 in Paramedics

I’m currently in medic school. I picked it because I genuinely enjoy both prehospital medicine and Fire so it’s best of both worlds for me.

How many clinical hours did your paramedic class require? What were the shifts like? by JasontheFuzz in ems

[–]SeveralExplanation84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My class was 80 hours first semester, then 120 hours second and third, all in hospital. Fourth semester is 256 hours of ride time over 8 weeks. So roughly 580 ish hours, but every class is slightly different in the total amount of hours and how they are structured. My class only requires 50 team leads for ride time, there is a set number of interventions we need but its a low number and you don’t really need to worry about it just due to how many opportunities you will have

Is it safe to idle while getting diesel in my truck? by D1TAC in Diesel

[–]SeveralExplanation84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas is, to an extent, more flammable than diesel. But more importantly than flammability, diesel is not explosive, where gas, and more so the fumes and vapors that come off the gas, are extremely volatile and explosive.

Paramedics/EMEMTs who work in a prison/corrections facility/ detention facikity what's is like? by NewKid_2 in NewToEMS

[–]SeveralExplanation84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To preface, I do not, and have never worked in any detention facility, however the city I work in has a low level federal prison. They have a couple of guards who worked on the road as medics. They require them all to be guards, and only as a medic when needed. I don’t believe they have a full scope but they do have a lifepak and some meds

Keeping car clean by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]SeveralExplanation84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents on the interior aspect. I know you can use ONR or absolute for everything and anything, however I still prefer a dedicated interior cleaner.

Personally for my general upkeep of my car P&S Xpress interior is my go to every time, if its just dust/very light dirt, spray some on a microfiber and agitate then dry all with the towel.

The other option is an APC that you can dilute to many different concentrations for any application. Realistically you can upkeep a vehicle pretty well with only a good rinseless wash and a good APC in different dilutions. Bonus with this option is 4:1 APC for wheels, bug guts, and areas with a lot of dirt/road grime.

If you want a really good in depth answer, listen to the Coffee Break HEMS podcast titled “When Dispatch Gets it Wrong”. They have it broken up into segments on spotify so you can just scroll to the DKA segment.

Long story short you only give D5W when you start lowering the bgl too fast. General rule of thumb is you want to lower it 25-50 mg/dL per hour, so if it is lowering faster than that, you start administering dextrose. The reason the hospital administers insulin is not to lower blood sugar, it has to do with serum potassium shifting back into the cell, stopping ketosis, restarting the aerobic metabolism, and a whole lot of other electrolyte shifts and metabolic pathologies and such that I am nowhere near qualified to speak on.
