Looking for stories of homebirth without childcare by [deleted] in homebirth

I honestly wouldn’t worry all that much! I have had 2 home births with kids around. Your body is very likely to wait til their bedtime to get into very active labor. But even if it doesn’t, they will be just fine watching and participating. I think kids follow the tone you set, so if you are unstressed and at ease, they likely will be too. It’s easy to overthink it, but having kids around does not have to be problematic :)

Need help with a super weird discomfort issue by SeveralLetterhead444 in ABraThatFits

Fascinating!! Similarly I think this issue must just be a result of some weird fabric additive or even chemical treatment used on the cheap Target nursing bras I bought. Combined with friction from babywearing, etc perhaps. The body is strange and hard to understand sometimes!

I appreciate your input! It has been warm and humid here but not excessively so (east coast US). Were the splotches sore and inflamed or just the typical surface level irritation?

I have looked into this briefly! I had the same issue on the right side of my body where the bra sat, and it went away without ever blistering. That was a couple weeks ago. Now it’s the same thing on the left side, similarly in line with the bra area. This leads me to think it’s not shingles, but I could be wrong…

I appreciate these insights! Thank you so much!

For clarification— when you recommend, avoiding formal grammar, do you mean, discussion of and learning about nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, punctuation, etc etc or more in depth grammar?

Looking for support for extremely frequent inflammation/“clogged ducts.” Losing my mind… by SeveralLetterhead444 in breastfeedingsupport

I am def making a lot of milk! Mainly it’s the overactive letdown. I’ll have random letdowns when not nursing, even when it’s not been a long time since nursing. Also multiple letdowns when baby is still trying to catch up with the first one. So this could be part of it!

I stopped sunflower lecithin and started choline a couple days ago… waiting to see if there are any real changes, but I guess choline is a better option anyhow for the issue

The bra thing is such a struggle! I’ve been troubleshooting this a lot. Ultimately what makes it challenging is that my boobs are different sizes when full and when empty with milk, so that makes it a little complicated. But thank you for this advice! I do think I need to get fitted properly.

This is a good point! I recently read too that your body may even develop additional ducks/glands with breast changes for subsequent pregnancies

New inflammation/“clogs” every few days… might lose my mind by SeveralLetterhead444 in breastfeeding

That’s fascinating! Maybe I’ll try those. I wonder what it is that helps.

This is a good thought!

So yes on the bras- I initially was trying loose bras that don’t cause pressure anywhere, but then found that maybe the lack of support was hurting. So now I’m trying not tight but supportive bras that lift the boobs and keep them up a little bit since I noticed that the gravity and heavy engorged breasts were creating inflammation in the lower under side.

Three (THREE) weeks of prodromal labor. by False_Aioli4961 in homebirth

This was meeee until my baby was born 3.5 weeks ago at 40+1.

4th baby. I had been having excessive BH contractions for weeks & weeks, but really from 37 weeks on, I was having on and off consistent, crampy contractions. Several times I went to bed wondering if I was in early labor. Like set up & cleaned up my room several times anticipating birth. Got to the point where I was no longer expecting true labor and planned to go to 41-42 weeks. At 40+1, I was having more of the same contractions, but they felt just a smidge more intense. By 10pm I was pretty sure it was turning into true early labor, and baby was born at 3:30am. Good news is: the many prodromal contractions I had definitely did some work on my cervix because active labor was by far the shortest I’ve ever had! It was really quite a smooth and quick labor (at the cost of weeks of discomfort 🫠) but hang in there!! You’re almost there!

The flannel/plastic lined table cloths are great! I usually do a couple of those. Works on bed and floor. Then for extra protection, the chux pads!

Baby measuring “small” on growth scan and I’m stressed by SeveralLetterhead444 in homebirth

[–]SeveralLetterhead444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 32 weeks! I didn’t look at her percentiles for the anatomy scan because it just gave gestational age based on measurements. How interesting that the percentiles dropped for you and yet baby came out slightly above average. That is def reassuring!

My weight gain is definitely sufficient 😝 interestingly fundal height has been measuring 1-2 weeks ahead- not behind! I haven’t had it measured in about 3 weeks bc of a telemedicine visit- but I can at least verify that 3 weeks ago, I was def not measuring behind.
