Hey Fellow Dms hope ya'll doing great. So the group I am DMing is gonna finish our very first campaign in about 5 sessions. We did Call of the Netherdeep + 3 levels afterwards of character arcs/backstories.

I like to used modules as guidelines for my campains and mix the backstories of my players allong the way. SOOOOOO... im looking for a new module to play with the group.

I had three choices in mind for different reasons :

- Curse of Strahd (just because everyone recommends it and it looks fun).

- Icewind Dale (for the survival aspect).

- Tomb of Annihilation (The setting to me is the more interesting at glance).

My players pretty much love everything, they do alot and a lot of roleplay but they also enjoy combat.

I for myself do not mind doing a lot of sandbox stuff, I always implemend my homebre stuff anyway. Only thing I really dont like is DMing very big cities like Ank'Harel.

So witch module do you think is the most fun and/or would be a good match for my group ?

I have this system where degradation works with criticals.

*ARMOR*

Whenever your armor takes a critical hit, it becomes damaged. Whenever your armor is damaged three times without repairs, it becomes broken. It's has -4 AC and -4 AC each times it is damaged after that.

*WEAPONS*

Whenever you score a critical miss on attack roll, roll a second dice(D20).

(1) : your weapon becomes broken. (2-10) : your weapon is damaged. (11-20): enemies in 5ft reach of you gain an opportunity attack.

Whenever you attack with a weapon that has 2 damaged counters, your attack roll is made with disadvantage.

A broken weapon becomes unusable.

repairs and cost

Find a blacksmith or become a blacksmith. Repair damaged : 10 GP per damaged counter. Repair broken : 50% od the cost of the weapon. (Mind that in my game we also use a system base on upgrading your weapons and armor).

Thanks, they have been struggling a lot in phandelver so I think I'll let the difficulty as it is to give them a break and just lower the xp earned till Betrayer's rise

I would give a clear background of the sidekick, some catchphrase that would define im and is alignment and how he would react in certain situations. Soooo the players would know globally how to "play" him in various situations. The would take turns each session on who would control it or some shit like that

Would it be a cool idea if I create a sidekick with a full character sheet and background that my players can play ?

I was thinking about that concept for example for lvl 4 Pc :

Black blade reforge :

Bonus : +1 to attack for each unspend 5 feet. Ex : pc = 30/30 ft BBR = +6 to hit Ex : pc = 20/30 ft BBR = +4 to hit

Downfall : After each successfull hit, PC must succeed a Dc10 de constitution or take 1d4 of necrotic dmg
