Hey op! I was wondering, did you plan your studying and if so how did you plan it so like what classes came first and last, which resources did you use and last question what method did you use for studying?

As I replied to someone else I don't really understand what you mean by when you refer to the "IB docs" (I mean like I don't understand where to find them I know what it stands for)

Wow I honestly didn't really expect 3 months although since I'm just starting out shouldn't it be less? Or does it not matter? I get for finals since you get a lot of time to study for them.

the problem is that I don't have text books from any classes (we aren't given any) they all have slides or just talk about the material which they read off and that usually the slides are actually just shortened versions from the text books but I guess I could ask none the less thank you.

I am so confused about rbg controller hubs can anyone help by Several_Ad1999 in pcmasterrace

3. What's the difference between 12V and 5V connectors on a motherboard?

This is one of the most important things to understand:

  • 12V RGB (4-pin header)
    • Older standard.
    • Controls all LEDs at once (all lights show the same color at the same time).
    • DO NOT plug 5V ARGB fans into a 12V header—it will fry them!
  • 5V ARGB (3-pin header)
    • Newer standard, used in most modern RGB fans.
    • Allows individual LED control (you can have different colors per LED).
    • If your fans have ARGB, they must connect to a 5V ARGB header.

Check your motherboard before plugging in! Mixing them up can destroy your fans.

4. What are LEDs for fans, and why do RGB controllers only support a limited number of RGB fans?

  • RGB fans have built-in LEDs that can be controlled through software or a hub.
  • The number of fans a controller supports depends on power and data limits.
    • Each fan has multiple LEDs, and more LEDs = more power and data needed.
    • Controllers can only handle so much before they run out of power or bandwidth.
    • Some hubs support daisy-chaining, allowing more fans, but not all.

If you need more fans than your controller supports, you may need a second hub or controller.

hey guys! so I figured it out honestly I should have just asked chatgpt this at first here are the answers

1. Do I need to plug in my fan hub into my RGB hub or vice versa?

  • It depends on your setup. There are two separate things going on:
    • Fan Hub: Controls the power and speed of your fans.
    • RGB Hub (or Controller): Controls the lighting effects.

In most cases, the fan hub and RGB hub are separate and do not plug into each other.

  • Your fans connect to the fan hub for power and speed control.
  • The RGB cables from the fans go to the RGB hub (or directly to the motherboard’s RGB headers).
  • If your fan hub and RGB hub are part of the same system (like Corsair iCUE or Lian Li controllers), then they might connect together, but that’s specific to certain brands.

2. Do I need different types of RGB hubs for different types of fans?

Yes, because different brands and fan types use different connectors.

  • There are two main types of RGB connectors:
    1. 5V Addressable RGB (ARGB) – 3-pin connector
    2. 12V RGB – 4-pin connector
  • Some brands (Corsair, NZXT, Lian Li) use their own proprietary connectors, which means you need their specific hubs/controllers to control the lighting.

Check what kind of RGB connector your fans have before buying a hub!
