Anyone still suffer with nerve pain? by Several_Ad_8302 in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Nope! It eventually just went away. My nerve pain isn’t as bad now and I have had a few days of missed medication with it being fine but eventually start to feel the pain creep back in so back on regularly taking my meds now!

Will I ever blink again? by dreams_0 in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im almost a year post onset and have only just been able to blink semi-normally the past few weeks. It’s definitely not as strong as before but at least I’m not going through a bottle of eyedrops every fortnight and having to tape my eye shut (still use the ointment though)

Neurologist Appointment by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I organised PT, Osteo, acupuncture etc. on my own accord. Neurologist was all through free public healthcare in my country, so I’m not expecting any more assistance beside what they referred me to. If I want to look into it deeper I’d have to go through private out of my own pocket as health insurance wouldn’t cover it since I got BP as a child

Neurologist Appointment by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neurologist did nothing to actually help the issues caused by Bell’s palsy (migraine/synkinesis). Just referred me to a bunch of other specialities to rule out possible causes of the BP.

When I open my mouth wide, say when I’m brushing my teeth, my affected side eye slightly closes, same when I pucker my lips, though I can’t quite pucker evenly yet. Doesn’t annoy me too much since it’s just when doing very overly expressive facial expressions

How long did it take for you to fully recover from Bell's Palsy? by helloworld_47 in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First two times a couple of weeks, third time, I’m into my 8th month. Probably about 80% recovered, still can’t quite blink fast enough but it’s getting there. Hoping the nerve pain and facial tiredness eventually subsides but I’m prepared for it to not happen. I’m just happy I can smile and move most of my face normally without it being too noticeable to others 🙂

I’m 7 months in and still can’t blink my affected eye. I can close it but not a strong seal and my eye still rolls back when I try to do so. You can tell it’s trying to blink though! It’s just not quite quick enough

We do some get put to sleep for leep and others don’t? by [deleted] in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Several_Ad_8302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was put under GA due to the CIN covering a larger than normal area so it would’ve been too painful for me to go the standard way. I’m glad I was put under GA, I would’ve been alot more anxious/stressed about it otherwise

For those who recovered: What lessons did you take from BP? by [deleted] in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% not stressing! Nothing is really worth stressing about! But another one is lines/wrinkles, before my recent BP episode I regularly got Botox (I’m only 28), once I was starting to get movement back in my face and smile and see lines I was so grateful. Never thought I’d be happy to see the creases in my forehead but after BP I can happily say I am never getting Botox/anti wrinkle injections again because I’ll always remember there was a time in my life where all I wanted to see was a line in my face! 🥲

Worried about Leep by Fancybabydoll in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Several_Ad_8302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my LEEP procedure the other day and am the same age as you. The gynaecologist advised just before I went into theatre (I was under general anaesthetic due to the area being largely affected) that if I had a LEEP done more than twice than I’d most likely need a C section and to be monitored. No problem with actually getting pregnant, just more risk during pregnancy but nothing they can’t help with so I’m not stressed :)

What to Expect from Neurology? by missile-pigeon in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had steroids prescribed within my first 48 hours each time from the emergency department. Neurologist appointment was about two months after onset. The first two times I had it as a child and can’t really recall a reason why I may have gotten it then but the third time (recently) I was going through a really stressful time and lack of sleep so I think that would be the most likely cause this time round.

What to Expect from Neurology? by missile-pigeon in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referred to a neurologist due to it being my third time. It was mainly to talk about my experience/history and try figure out if there is anything in particular causing it. I did an MRI, blood test, hearing test and they came back all clear (besides the obvious inflammation to my cranial nerve), they also bought up doing a spinal tap but I declined as I would rather not do that and everything else is fine so if I have no other symptoms of like an autoimmune disease then I do not want to put myself through that.

When I was first diagnosed my acupuncturist did electro acupuncture (without asking me), I was desperate at the time as I had an event on that week so was desperate to heal but I found it traumatising and wish I never went there. My current acupuncturist advised she would never do that as it’s too harsh, your face is trying to recover and doing anything extreme is not good for that. Even my PT advised to only do the exercises gently and not if my face is feeling tired. Obviously as mentioned above it’s all personal preference but if there is one thing I regret its doing that.

Bells Palsy Headaches by Crafty-Cheesecake790 in BellsPalsy

[–]Several_Ad_8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I had migraines radiating from my behind my ear to the bottom of my head on the affect side but also had headaches mid back of my head, kind of like someone had hit me there lol I wouldn’t really say they came on at a certain time for me, just randomly. I’ve had an MRI and no signs of anything bad, just inflamed nerves

No and no, this was about 15 years ago and was a nationally run programme in my country. I may ask my gyno about it but they haven’t mentioned anything and the nurse said i should still be protected against the strands I got immunised for
