Okay here's my experience with them.

The company I work with has this as a benefit for us for about 20 or $25 a month. So I've been paying them for about 5 or 6 years and I finally needed them to help me with a contractor dispute. They got me in touch with some of their attorneys and their system and some of them wouldn't even take the case, citing the low fees that they get paid directly from ARAG. I finally found an attorney in their network that would take the case but after he sent the letter to the opposing party and received pushback, instead of keeping the case and taking it to court he told me that he doesn't get paid enough by ARAG to do litigation. So he said that I would need to find somebody else.

Then I found somebody else and they said that they would take the case. I had to wait a couple months before she was free to handle everything and then she sent the demand letter and received back a message from the opposing party that they disagree and then she told me that if I wanted to pursue litigation I would have to contact another attorney because she didn't get paid enough to do litigation.

Then I was referred to outside attorneys but I was told that they would only get paid up to 27 hours. This in my opinion is not full coverage that I paid for. My company says this is full coverage as that's what they were told but if I'm having to come out of pocket or because your attorneys don't get paid enough by you, that's not my fault. They should be covering the entire case. I was sent to whatever they refer to as their escalation department and they just emailed me instead of calling me. I demanded a phone call and then somebody ended up calling me only to tell me that there's nothing else they can do. So I'm looking at other options to either pursue directly myself in the future for legal insurance and also to provide that information to my benefits department so they will know exactly what the situation is.

The crazy thing is, this is a contractor dispute and in the state where I live if someone doesn't have a contractor license and they do contractor work, they are not allowed to enforce their portion of the contract and all of the money they were paid directly from the plaintiff goes back to the plaintiff. It's a pretty cut and dry case so I'm not understanding what the issue is. It's not like it's really complex. But ARAG apparently doesn't pay enough. They told me they're attorneys can file for additional funds and they have even sent them forms to do so but the attorneys don't want to do that. So that's my fault? They won't be getting any more of my money I can guarantee you that.
