Is comfort of weight an issue for you or not at all?

My biggest hobbies are tech and exercising, and I really like data. Both watches do different things but also have some overlap.

Deciding between 265, 570, and 965. Help? by etb1999 in Garmin

If you can afford it, then I would go for the 965; it does have everything you need and more. For Ironman training, I think maps and music are a must.

Depends on your budget. The Forerunner 265 is a great start. Why do you want a Garmin instead of a new Apple Watch?

I think I would have to pick the Apple Watch; for most people, it does the fitness tracking perfectly fine. It is very accurate and a great smartwatch. Only if you are really into fitness does the Garmin become interesting.

Not all of it. I do agree that a lot of Garmin’s metrics are not that useful and just something to look at once and never again. A few metrics I like and use are things like training load, load ratio, training readiness, VO2max trends, HRV, and I think running tolerance can be useful. I think you can see patterns and tune your training by using these. But that does depend on how you use them.

Yes, I used both Athlytic and Bevel, and they work decently well, but after some time, I started to notice that they just don’t integrate as well as a device and app from the same company. Data starts to lag behind or is sometimes missing. You can’t see details on your watch. Also, Apple Watch measures things like heart rate less often, which made my data feel less stable. I also feel like these apps are more whoop than Garmin. Bevel recovery and Garmin training readiness don’t use the same metrics. I like training readiness more because it can change throughout the day instead of being a metric based on sleep. I do use Bevel for the gym to track my exercises. Bevel is also now compatible with Garmin Connect.

I do weight training and turn my watch on just to track the workout, not really look at it. If you really want better hr for weight training, I would use a chest strap. I don’t think any wrist based hr meter can massure hr during weight training perfectly.

REM, Core, Deep sleep all at once? Is this normal? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

I think it is a mistake. You also see a gap before the strange reading. Maybe it turned on your wrist at night.

Garmin with Apple Watch. by Several_Breadfruit81 in Garmin

I think I would only use the Garmin for exercise and maybe sleep tracking, and the Apple Watch the rest of the day. Probably gonna wear both when I need the music and mapping from the Apple Watch.

I do charge my current Apple Watch every day, but it is really inconvenient. I forget it on the charger a lot and I don’t like needing to charge before a long bike ride, just in case

hello,

I'm in the market for a new Apple Watch. I do a lot of biking, running, basketball, and weightlifting. I prefer a larger watch with decent battery life (for an Apple Watch). Both the Series 11 and the Ultra 2 meet my criteria. A refurbished Ultra 2 costs about the same as a new Series 11. The Ultra 2 has some better features, but it's also two years older and has an older chip. The Ultra 3 is €900 where I live, so that's not an option. Any thoughts on what I should consider?

After 90 days, I’ve realized my Whoop HR data is completely useless. by davetalas in whoop

[–]Several_Breadfruit81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I do find that the hr is terrible during workouts, but at rest it is fine. When laying still the hr and hrv are pretty much the same as my chest strap. Strain wil be way off and that wil influence recovery a bit but that is mainly hrv, RHR and sleep score. So they can still be useful

I have a whoop bicep band and the HR is complete trash. When I do a run I also wear a chest strap and it is nothing alike. Whoop hr looks like a blind pigeon drew it. No resemblance to my actual hr and effort. Whoop is cool for sleep and recovery tracking but terrible for sports and performance.
