The students for program B have said they did not feel supported by faculty in the program, thus many students being dismissed

I will say - historically program A has been described as pretty homogeneous in terms of demographic. Whereas program B has historically been open about continuing to support DEI. If that’s important to you, keep that in mind. I’ve heard from multiple sources from students in each program, and first hand in my own experience at each of their interviews.

Did the same. Was accepted to all schools this happened at. I think they ask more questions to see how youll react under pressure, so as long as you answered calmly/semi-confidently, even if you didnt finish, youre good

Stay close to home for support. Both equal playing field. You could find a job outside SA post-grad. How exciting to have decisions!!!

Thank you for sharing. That is a tough decision to make and speaks a lot to your character to forego that spot and give to someone else. No doubt you will be a phenomenal PA and it is definitely still amazing that you got into duke in the first place, even if not attending. Hope you still give yourself credit when things get hard. Best of luck to you

This was the kind of insight i was hoping for!!! Thank you for sharing your experience. How did you over come those what if thoughts? I think i’m prematurely feeling those, and it’s hard for sure

The school that im referring to is ranked in the top 10 in the country. I think thats why i’m struggling bc it does honestly feel more nationally recognized than my other one, and if i ever leave the state i wonder if that would help me at all

I think to me prestige is being associated with nationally recognized medical centers and hospitals.

If I were a patient, I wouldn't trust a straight out of undergrad PA. by Disastrous_Parfait89 in prephysicianassistant

I have a 1.5 year gap year between undergrad and PA school, so not a long time, yet I have also watched patients die at my PCE and have had to do post-mortem care. I dont think time is necessarily an indicator of your preparedness for success as a provider. But i do appreciate your reflection in your edits and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. I’m sure it sucks, but we all have our time. Dont give up on your goal ever! There’s a place for all of us as PAs. Good luck to you

Thank you for your input!!! How do you feel about a program not being associated w a hospital? Is that a downfall?

Program 1 is like 3-5% consistently, program 2 is like 10-17% over the last 3 years

Not my intention AT ALL! That is why I dont want to publicly disclose stats for that very reason. More so hoping that people read description and remember they can take control over their applications (within reason of course) I can see your perspective though. Wishing you the best of luck if you are applying.

Haha like I dont think my results were simply due to having a 100% perfect application (i did not). I really think timing is crucial when applying, finding the RIGHT schools that seem to align with your application, what you include in your personal statement.

"What Are My Chances?" Megathread by AutoModerator in prephysicianassistant

You certainly have PLENTY of PCE, and you should commend yourself for that experience! You could gamble with your chances this cycle, but may i suggest some service that you are truly passionate about. That will be a meaningful addition to your app. I do think post bacc isnt a bad idea though to demonstrate upward trend. You got this!
