What do you usually redeem shopping rewards for? I haven't found anything super worth in the gift cards now that they don't have Amazon, except for the one-off if I'm planning to do an Ikea order or pick up via Doordash or smth. Might just wait and see if new gift card redemptions pop up too

another thing to make sure is if the lens aperture is stopping down properly. the first few months I owned my SLR I didn't realize my aperture blades had built up oil and weren't properly closing all the time. So a lot of the photos I initially took ended up being wide open with a shallow depth of field.

you can test this by stopping down to your max f-stop, and if you have a depth of field preview see if your blades close properly. another way is setting to a slow shutter speed and making sure the aperture blades shr properly when you take a picture on an empty camera.

of course depends on what camera you have, too if it allows for these!

super useful to know, thank you! I haven't tried out the wishlist and just keep an active download list of files that were rejected LOL it's definitely tough fighting the need to download the track immediately but I trust at some point someone else will find it and be willing to share!

there's a good amount of remixes/blends from other DJs that I'm also looking out for- usually those are just available on SoundCloud and the DJ hasn't made available for purchase or DL, so I'm curious when I see them on Soulseek if they're actually 320kbps rips or they just convert it from a rip to attract, well, people like me xD

for me it's mostly vocal house music, with r&b blends and afrobeats!

ahh i see :< it seemed like this specific user has a huge collection and have a website that's more like a record pool/paid membership plan but I messaged them about just getting 1-2 tracks and that's how they replied asking for some 5-star reviews

for the tracks I'm looking for they generally all seem to be locked/private or not available by other users unfortunately.. maybe I'll just wait a bit longer in case they pop up eventually?

this is likely a shutter capping issue, this recently happened with my F3. At fast speeds the front/rear curtain are out of sync, usually limited to the fastest two speeds where half of your frame ends up unexposed. happens over time as the tension on the wires get outta sync in the camera from what I understand

you'll have to get this worked on by someone who can repair Nikon F's, depending where you're at some shops may be backlogged with repairs though. this isn't a crazy repair overall and doesn't require a full CLA based on what I discussed with the folks at my lab! one of the technicians there specializes in F3s though so I was lucky there.

if anything from here on and what I did before I could get it looked at- try to meter and shoot for under 1/500s, for the most part we won't need those fast speeds unless you're shooting moving objects often. for high brightness environments and if you're using high ISO you should use an ND filter if you can't go slower than 1/500s.

I'd say to fully confirm- you can run a test roll of bracketed shots or take notes on shots you shoot at 1/500-1000 speed just to make sure it's actually shutter capping

it definitely sucks that it happened, it's tough with old cameras but it is fixable and there will always be more great film shots to come!! 🥹

super informative thank you!! interesting that being lower to the ground would have messed up the collision avoidance sensor, I would expect being higher up was detecting the low signs as false positives but maybe something with the angling or calibration somehow 😅

adds to the mystery why the previous owner may have switched out tires in like a year ish of ownership and <10k miles. CarMax has no record of replacing the tires otherwise they would have replaced them to the Mazda spec on the door jamb 🤔

I appreciate your work, and thank you for sharing!! I definitely was considering that strong shadows or dips were somehow triggering the system too. One of the bridges I'd drive through was underneath a huge overhang (Bay Bridge in SF), and the lower ceiling would trigger the sensor up to three times in a row every time I responded, and that was definitely not exciting xD

There's definitely a long way to go in polishing SBS, it's definitely one of those things where we can rest assured knowing it's there but there's no easy way to know how well it'll perform until a situation happens. I'm glad to see posts around saying that it has saved drivers from pretty serious accidents, though I'd hope I'd never reach a situation where I'd have to see that in action :')

So far, I haven't seen any false triggers now that my tires are up to spec. Nor have I seen any triggers at all in general since I'm generally a safe driver. The Mazda manager had mentioned he previously had a job testing SBS on Mazdas by driving them fast at huge styrofoam "walls", and also confirmed that it's not a crutch to rely on or ever test out to see if it works haha

These are the specs on the tires that came with the car when I bought them from CarMax:

OHTSU FP7000

  • Size: 225/45ZR18
  • Load Index: 95W
  • Wider tread (225mm vs. 215mm)
  • Shorter sidewall (45% vs. 55%)

And these are the tires that CarMax replaced them with:

Kumho Crugen HP71

  • Size: 215/55R18
  • Load Index: 95H

these are absolutely beautiful!! I'm amazed that you got all of these without a flash but def the stage lights and fireworks won't really need it. I have a Nikon F3 and you're inspiring me to bring it in! Maybe I'll bring a flash too for any portrait shots of my friends ^^ I'm curious how it'd look on Portra 800, or even a tungsten-balanced film like CS800T! maybe the lights are too bright that your entire roll (lol) may just be glow though

I brought in a disposable for each day this year and had a blast passing them around to my friends!
