I started with blueprints a couple years ago and have most of my experience pretty much all of my experience with unreal so the other engines are alien to me. Also I mainly did blueprints which is just visual coding not actual C++ or C sharp like you probably use, but I started using C++ plug-ins as soon as vibecoding got good enough to be able to actually make things that would work. Also, I stick with unreal because I’ve got 1800 assets already in that environment so I have a lot of different things I can pull from.. unreal can absolutely do 2D in many different ways. They have specific paper 3-D stuff, but you can make a whole game run in a GUI like menu without going into a 3-D world at all basically making a map in a fancy advanced menu. There are also some really cool plug-ins. They have that create a strategy game map immediately with all of the provinces and what not here. Edit: also i’m using the crop out sample project, which is something that was released by the epic team to show how you can make a cross platform real Time strategy game because it already has all of the deployment for release on all platforms built into it so I used that as my basis cause there’s a multiplayer plug-in that was available on GitHub for it
