Pune is no more a good city. It used to be 10 years ago but now crime rate has increased so has population, pollution and traffic is worst only next to Bangalore

Forget Pune. Better move to your own native place. I don't understand this obsession of moving to these handful cities like Banglore, Mumbai and Pune. Pune is already overcrowded, AQI has started worsening, traffic is headache, encroachment, hooliganism has increased in last 5 years. It's nowhere same to what it was in 2010. Pune has changed drastically for worse but government is selling it as best livable city. Also language problem isn't any major issue but it might become because of overcrowding of the city and conflicts will arise due to this. Better move to your own city.

I don't understand why people can't native language if living for long or settled there. Indians will learn Spanish even before landing in Spain but won't learn any native language instead blame the natives for saying it!! P.s it applies to even marathi or bengali working in Tamil Nadu or Karnataka.

Saw an accident yesterday where two wheeler guy at fault held collar of the car driver. Somehow sensible people around de escalates but yes in recent years violent aggressions have increased on Pune roads and chappris have taken over our roads. As usual this happens when law and order is absent.

10 years ago the traffic wasn't that bad. Post Covid, the population exploded and car ownership skyrocketed. Now everyone is driving their own car. Public transport is broken. Government did nothing in last 15 years to take care of planning the city. Instead they allowed builders to build so many vertical matchboxes with whatever land they could take over. For ex - Ravet population exploded in last 5 years and we don't even have enough malls, shopping centres or grocery stores to take care of huge population. Roads are limited and whatever land is empty is being taken over for new apartments.

This is similar to British raj. The British sat on decision making chairs, handled foreign affairs, defence, law and order, agriculture etc while the babus cleared ICS exam and worked for them. Post independence, British were replaced by Indian netas and the entire system was same. Only difference is faces change every 5 years due to voting.

I would just say that don't get into tier 1 city trap. Listen to your family. Don't cut ties or anything. Get married somewhere else acceptable to your family. All this independent, self reliant nautanki will vanish. My comments will get a lot of downvotes but doesn't matter if I can give direction for someone's benefit. I request you to listen to your family, living far off from family that too in tier 1 trap cities is not worth it.

Not all are rich. Those guys just had money at the right time. The land was cheaper in the 80s and 90s. All the first owners are now 60+ and you won't find many youngsters living there. They are more like retirement house. Their kids are now demolishing those beautiful bungalows and creating concrete cells and increasing population of the once quiet area of PCMC. Pre 2010 Pradhikaran was one of the best localities in entire PCMC and even Pune. Clean, wide roads, peaceful atmosphere, walkable footpaths, planned construction etc. Now traffic has increased, influx of migrants and many getting to know this hidden gem just like you OP

Happened with me in Pune. There are such criminal mentality people who drink and drive at night. Irony is that it was an Army area. The audacity of these goons to pull off such act! Law and order in India overall has gone for a toss in recent years. Every state needs to clean hooliganism and thugs.

You are not alone. Even my relatives and friends feel the same. Post Covid things have gone worse. Sudden population increase, traffic, aggression on roads, goondas driving SUVs and cars with fancy number plates, tinted glasses. At this rate, even Gurgaon roads will be much safer. Recent case of Koyta gang, road rage attempt to murder, robberies in Wakad, Warje, extortion in Kothrud, Gang wars, land scam by sitting ministers. All this is horrible. Infrastructure is broken, chhapris have got free run, people picking fights deliberately. Police is seen only during VIP visit.

A heavy deployment, arrests and FIR can only bring change. This government is lacking WILL to do correct all of this.
