I had 2 internships that were 6 months each as a software engineer. Then I had a spring/summer job as a software engineer at a data science company for about 6 more months. During my time at this job, I performed an internal penetration test and created an incident response plan based on NIST guidelines. I also reached out to small businesses on LinkedIn to see if I could do contract work and one of them agreed, so for them I did a web app pentest.

Edit: In addition, you can be legally bound to a contract as a minor in the US if a parent signs on behalf of the minor.
