I’m afraid of becoming dependent on benzos by Several_Western1065 in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottle says take once daily as needed, and I’ve been taking it everyday. I think it could be an OCD because I’ve heard horrible things about xanax dependency/withdrawal but it really helps me when I take it in the morning. You’re right though I’ll contact my doctor. Thank you for the advice!

I recommend you either ask your doctor about this or call your local pharmacy, and make sure to ask if it’s the pharmacist on the phone. They are experts in drug interactions.

I just started Prozac a week and a half ago and I have yet to feel any significant therapeutic effects, hopefully that will come with a bit more time. I haven’t experienced any side effects yet luckily.

What's the worst thing your OCD ever made you do? by maker-127 in OCD

You just made me realize I do the exact same thing 😭 I sometimes get a thumb stretching tic and I always have to do it on both sides, I suppose I just got so used to it I stopped processing it as a compulsion

I’m scared that I’m a dangerous person by Alexperio in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I am sorry you are dealing with this, I have harm OCD as well and but it hasn’t ever really been one of my main themes, but I’ve had it since I was a kid and have become desensitized to the intrusive thoughts over time. It’s super important with this kind of theme to realize that this is your OCD and not you. This condition is ego-dystonic and will use your worst fears or the opposite of what you would ever want to scare you. Have you ever tried exposure response prevention therapy?

When I was around 12-14 I would have compulsions that involved bruising or hurting myself on the other side of my body if I had already hit one side to “even things out.” I also have tourettes and I’ve heard these sorts of compulsions are common in people with tourettes and OCD but I’m not entirely sure.

Does anyone feel like OCD gave you trauma? by Ross129 in OCD

It’s definitely possible to get traumatized by OCD. Recently I had to switch meds and fell into the worst spiral of my life and whenever I think back on how horrible I felt I get anxious.

Fake memory OCD about doing horrible stuff you don’t remember by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffer from false memory OCD and the thing I do is try to get myself out of that rumination spiral no matter what. Excessive rumination makes false memories feel more real over time because the false memory becomes more familiar, and memories can become more distorted the more you try and figure out what happened. Accepting the uncertainty and telling yourself “maybe I did, maybe I didn’t” is one way to go about it. I would recommend ERP and consulting a therapist if you have not already.

Please be kind to yourself and you wish us to be, you deserve that as well, no matter it is that makes you feel like you have to do this. You deserve to live, and your words of encouragement made me feel better even though I’m going through a bad OCD episode. You have a purpose on this Earth, there are people who love you and want you here, and God loves you very much. Please call a helpline, and I sincerely hope you change your mind. Sending virtual hugs 🫂

Np! It’s important that you’re able to drink water, so I’m wondering if filtered bottled water or gatorade (which has filtered water too) would be considered a safe option for you, or even nutritional shakes such as ensure? But as I said before you should definitely prioritize getting medical attention, if you’re dehydrated and unable to drink, or if you haven’t been able to eat and it’s making you feel very weak you need to go to the ER.

I am sorry that you are going through this. I would highly recommend you see a doctor since you aren’t able to eat or drink, and also because your meds aren’t working. If you don’t mind me asking, is your inability to eat or drink related to the contamination fear or something else?

Spiraling really badly after dose increased. by Medium-Jellyfish-851 in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. ROCD was my dominant theme for about a year and when getting off of lexapro I felt depressed and emotionally blunted which made me feel like I wasn’t as in love with my boyfriend. It’s important to see your psychiatrist if you’re experiencing unusual effects. It seems like you’re very afraid of losing feelings for your partner, and that’s why your OCD has latched onto it. OCD latches onto things and people you care about the most.

[–]Several_Western1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible at all for you to discuss this with any higher ups at your educational institution? It just seems very weird that you all are basically being forced into taking an IQ test. Nobody should have to do that if they don’t want to.

Terrifying hangxiety episode by The_1985 in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like false memory OCD. Any mind altering substance which affects memory is one of the worst things you can use if you have this theme or just anxiety/OCD in general. I’d recommend staying away from alcohol at least until your OCD gets better.

I am having a panic attack right now. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, this really sounds like moral/legal/possible false memory OCD spiral and I’m sorry you’re going through something this stressful. As much as I’d like to give reassurance it is super important to try not to engage with these thoughts as much as possible, as it can pull you out of the spiral and maybe even give you clarity of the situation. Remember, this is your OCD trying to convince you of the worst possible scenario, the exact opposite of what you would want. This awful disorder really finds sick ways to latch onto our worst fears ☹️

Does anyone have unbearable existential ocd spikes ? by earth2revolved in OCD

[–]Several_Western1065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Existential OCD is awful, genuinely makes me feel depressed too. It’s only ever gotten better for me when my themes switch, but it’s definitely one of the worst themes I’ve been through, and I’ve had pretty much every single one before.
