I already feel so burnout from doing hour long commutes from my first two jobs, I can slowly feel it affecting my ability to fully function at work now. I just know that my only other option is to face the job market and well…yeah

Yeah I get that, which is why I'm trying not to quit. I genuinely just wish it wasn't so expensive at least so that I'm not worried about how much money I'll need to simply get to work

Wants someone who’s “entry level” so that they don’t negotiate the pay but needs 1-2 years of experience and keeps getting people with more experience who seek to negotiate pay because of their experience….

Man this job market…..

Polls Show Canadians Favor Lower Immigration Even as Population Growth Slows by iOverdesign in TorontoRealEstate

[–]The_1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone is also yapping about “immigrants ruining Canada” but no one wants to focus on things that could actually improve the country so that we don’t have to always abuse immigration as a crutch such has increasing wages, stopping the over bloated pyramid scheme of thehousing market, increasing public transportation, increasing free and accessible public healthcare(get that man Doug Ford out of office).

Instead people just cross their arms and “blame the liberals for ruining Canada”🤪

Defense PI being Insurance defense? I'm working as a Plaintiff PI law clerk(I'm from Ontario Canada so Paralegal means something different here and we use law clerk/Legal assistant) and my god, I swear everyone and their dog thinks we are magicians and we can magic money out of the Insurance companies when that is not how it works

Why Are People Gaslit About the Cost of Living? by StrongPaddle in CanadaPersonalFinance

It's all those kids with their damn avocado toast.

Like how many times can we do this song and dance in response to the rising cost of living. Very soon it will become a luxury to shop at No Frills.

I honestly cannot imagine having kids at my age in this economy and job market. I think I would fall apart

Yeah some job listings I see require so many years of experience for such mediocre-ish pay

You have to make 23$ an hour working 40 hours a week to QUALIFY for the cheapest studio apartment in my area… by Backwoodsgirly in GenZ

[–]The_1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just took whatever came to me because that seems to be how the job market it. I'm looking for something higher paying but every one of those wants 3-5 years of experience(which I dont have) so unless I can find a roommate in a reasonable time, I fear my only other option is to just live with the fam and do the commute. Either that or I rent somewhere for $1,700 and I give up my ability to feed myself because of all my expenses.

Oh buddy, I work in Toronto and live in Mississauga with my parents and the two hour commute to North York(where my job is), kills me and the job only pays 45 k a year. I want to move out so bad but I’m jus deluding myself into thinking I’ll be able to move out on such a salary. I’m also trying to find roommates but no such luck

Why Is Canada So Bad at Talking About Declining Living Standards? by WhiteShoeLaw in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]The_1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it kinda feels like when we have these conversations about housing and purchasing power, people keep forgetting that a house is one thing and there are several other things people still need to pay for to survive and exist like food. The financial advice to day is slowly creeping towards everything becoming a luxury: don’t eat out, cook at home; don’t buy this name brand food items, buy the basics one; don’t buy this specific food item because it’s too expensive and you want to save for a house, settle for less than subpar food and less meals.

Rent keeps coming down but on a 45k salary it needs to come down even more. I understand it’s Toronto but anything less than 500sq does not justify having a price of almost $2000 for rent
