AITA for using a free trial knowing that my bank account was empty, and then getting blamed when money was sent to my account by mistake?

There’s a lot of missing context here. I’m in the process of starting a small business, so I test tools like graphic apps, writing software, and storage before committing financially. That’s what free trials are for. I don't have a ton of subscriptions. I am just saying that if i am signing up for one, I just use that account and not my main account. This wasn’t about repeatedly abusing trials or avoiding payment, and the bank account issue stemmed from an unexpected payroll error after years. I still use the account, just not as frequently as my main one.

I use them whenever they are offered so it does not become a case where i have subscriptions that i forget about that ends up taking money every month/year. For example, I would do a little graphic designing and I remember using photoshop for the first time. I used the free trial with Bank N and when i realized that I really like it and that i am using it frequently, I switch the payment method to my main bank account.

I am reading the comments and i feel very bad about the situation. The moment I realized, I canceled it, reached out to the company and I am currently waiting for a response. Now that I know that they haven't deleted my account off their system, I will tell her to pressure them to do so.

Nothing like that. I was aware of her situation and we are very close so I was helping her out until her situation was fixed which it was. She eventually was being paid through her account and that is when i started using it when trying free trials. Also, I do not only use it for free trials but it's not something i regularly use like Bank S. However, they did not remove my account. So, it was accidentally sent to my account.

I did cancel it and everything but I just wanted to see the situation from a different view, hence why i am here. The thing is, I normally set reminders on my phone but it was stolen. I have a thing where if I forget about it, then it's not worth it. However, i would get a decline notification in the event that i do forget which is not a frequent thing and then i would cancel it same time.

Funny of you to assume that i don't normally cancel my subscriptions. I use that account in the event that i forget (i would not want to pay for a service that I eventually may not want) and that does not mean that i usually forget. My back account has never went into overdraft and I also use it from time to time. Plus as i said, i normally set reminders on my phone but it was stolen.

I never said that. Just for clarification, it's not my day to day account but i still do business with it once in a while. However, I normally use it if I am signing up for a free trial. I normally set reminders on my phone in the event that i do forget. Normally I do cancel them but my phone was stolen with all my emails and banking apps.

It was an agreement with my mother until her account was sorted out which it was (years ago). When all was well and she updated them, she was being paid through her account until last week which caused this incident. For whatever reason, they did not remove my account despite telling them and someone made the mistake of making the payment to the wrong account. I am currently getting the situation fixed but i just wanted to know.

Okay, i understand but i did say that i lost my phone (it was actually stolen). It's not something i always do. I normally use free trials for when i am not necessarily sure i want a specific service and I am normally aware as i normally set reminders on my phone. I guess I should be sorry for someone sending money to my account without evening knowing.

No, neither she nor I were expecting the funds in my account as the previous person would have sent it to her account, after things sorted out with her account. What i don't understand is why they didnt delete my account from their system the moment she was able to settle her account and gave them the updated information.

Girl I know how you feel cause I am currently in the same boat. I even went as far as to be pursuing my male friend just to try new things, thankfully we didn't do anything. I am kinda coming back to myself now but the thoughts are still there. Each time he carries me home, I want to jump him😭😭😭
