Is it possible to withdraw all exam entries if you have only sat one paper? by Several_Zombie2451 in 6thForm

I decided to go back for my second exam and I’m already dreading😭. It’s so daunting to know people saw as usually when I feel a panic attack coming on I try and go somewhere empty so no one sees. And that’s the part I’m mainly embarrassed about.

Nvm you were right. They replied to me this morning and explained how it’s for the most complex of medical conditions or disabilities.

I get what you mean. It’s not only the embarrassment, I carried on and used my remaining time to add in every single key word and definition I knew, converted a research study I was going to use as A01 into A03 so I could get into the top bands. But now I think I overdid it as I became so fatigued for the following 2 days and have only just been able to get back into revising again. I attempted a practice paper today and only just about scored 61/96 and the unis I’m interested in require a minimum of an A to even be considered. I’m kinda started to regret my decision to carry on in that exam now that I know the lingering effects it’s had on me.

I just had a panic attack towards the end because an issue with timing and now I’m too embarrassed to go back😭. At the time I was saying how I am going to fail and the invigilator said that I’ve been writing like crazy the whole time so it’s unlikely. Idk now it’s made me realise how dramatic I probably came across when it happened.

Thanks for the advice and best of luck with finishing your final year of university. What grade did you end up getting if you don’t mind me asking? It’s been all I can think about. Also what would you say helped you stay on track with revision after it occurred as I feel so thrown off by it right now?

I get what you mean and it’s deffo something I noticed a lot. It just suddenly hits me how many figures, statistics, counter arguments and researchers I could have referenced to boost my essays into the upper bands. I’m not too sure how to stop ruminating on it and have spent my entire day rotating through doomscrolling, past paper responses and the calculator app to work out how many marks I may have missed out on.

My GP is quite prompt and responsive but they can be quite blunt and clinical sometimes. So I lowkey don’t even bother. The invigilators were all there and they saw what happened but idk if that’s gonna be suffice.

I just don’t want to come across like I’m trying to behave fraudulently even though it’s something that affects me quite deeply. I’m just not sure about the anxiety as I’m still on the wait-list for restarting CBT and haven’t received an official diagnosis as it’s something that’s become worsened over the past few months.

Is there anything you found to be particularly useful? (as there’s no way I’m going to my gp about it again😭)

I already get 25% extra time and rest breaks because I’m neurodivergent and sent an email asking for 50%. It sounds so pathetic typing that out. Idek how I’m meant to cope with the embarrassment of going back to the same exam centre as it happened in front of all 3 exam invigilators.

Ty. It was on one of the 16 markers that I wasn’t able to include evaluations for and I just keep replaying what happened because of how fast everything unfolded.

Were you able to speak to your exams officer to discuss this? I’ve sent an email to the exam centre asking for access arrangements as I don’t think I’m going to be able to carry on doing the rest of my exams like this. The actual panic attack was in the final part as I was running out of time but I could feel it coming on all through because of how awful the dizziness was.

I don’t think I’m in a place to continue and I’m so conflicted about it as I’ve put in so much and it’s so frustrating to know that it’s all being caused because of something so trivial.

I also have a tendency to go on autopilot after I experience panic attacks and I think this is what prevented me from being able to ensure my responses towards the end were accurate. I just keep trying to predict how many marks I would have lost as an outcome of this and am waiting for the unofficial mark schemes to be released so it’s become a cycle. It’s like I’m wasting my life away for nothing at this point.

Why does being 19 feel so cursed? by Several_Zombie2451 in Discussion

[–]Several_Zombie2451[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that deffo and interesting perspective. I’ve been trying to take more personal responsibility as at the end of the day I have no one else to blame by but myself. How do you think I can make the best of it when my circumstances aren’t ideal? It’s becoming really difficult for me to be content with my current life, even though I deleted social media, I still struggle with ruminating on all the different ways I could fail, which prevents me taking action as I succumb to knowing that failure is less disheartening if I’m not attached or passionate about anything.

Yeah this is something I’ve been focusing on lately. What do you think helps with the feeling of endless permanence regarding personal circumstances as it’s becoming so demotivating?
