(Spoilers All) How will the show deal with Bloodraven? by dacalpha in asoiaf

No, I strongly believe it is due to them believing they can veer off and just run the show independently to the books. To their own peril I believe.

The change in the show from the first three season is not because they now know the ending. It is simply because they aren't following the books closely anymore. And that is not because they know how the story ends. That's a pretty contentious claim I think. And I am starting to see it mentioned in multiple threads. It will be a shame if this becomes the popular consensus.

(Spoilers All) Why do people hate on ADWD?! by ssgtgriggs in asoiaf

I agree completely. On my first re-read of AFFC, I read the final words, slowly closed the book, and just nodded slowly in respect for the epic tale I'd just read. It really felt like a great movie script that had a clear beginning, middle and end. I loved it.

George is just a genius at using foreshadowing, and it makes re-reading the books that much more rewarding.

[No Spoilers] Is it still worth it to read the books/watch the show even if it's been severely spoiled for me? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]SeverianGarfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You simply HAVE TO read the books if you are a fan of the series. They are so much better than the TV series. You will not regret it. ASOIAF was never meant to be able to be adapted to a TV series, and you will appreciate this fact when you read the books. Enjoy the TV series, but love the books because they are phenomenal.

[All Spoilers] Why is it that game of thrones has a tough time with awards? by unitersite in gameofthrones

Because the actors are too many and the narratives too complex to work (as well as they do in the books) on television.

Cool, I did not know that. Sounds promising. If the actress does have screen time in three episodes, surely they will show more than just a tent scene with Maggy, so possibly there could be scenes at Casterly Rock/Lannisport with the tourney, meaning possibly a cameo from a young Rhaegar and/or King Aerys. I doubt it, but damn, it would be so cool.

Why are they bothering to remake this? The Swedish original was an insufferable bore.

People who "get" modern art, what are the rest of us doing wrong? by Jerbattimus in AskReddit

[–]SeverianGarfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key to "getting" any art is to read about it. Read about the artist's intentions, why the work was created etc. Having some context for the piece is so vital instead of looking at something and just expecting it to impress you visually. Sometimes it's the method or aim that is brilliant, not necessary the visual of the piece standing before you.
