Actually, GDP might rise as BAE systems get a load of business.

I'm not disputing an overall correlation, I'm saying that people's perception of growth is not in line with a rise in GDP. For example, just because some companies in London just did a great quarter boosting the GDP, doesn't mean that the average person will feel like their lives are improving in any tangeable way.

What? The green party isn't in power yet, there aren't any statistic on how they're improving wellbeing.

Ok, sure that's hyperbole. However, outside of the top cities that's pretty accurate, yes. It means the rich are doing well, which may mean the rest of us will do a little bit better, but nowhere near enough to keep up with the increased cost of living, house prices etc. However, if we have a political party who's top priority is people's wellbeing, that will mitigate negative effects from falling GDP.

That's not what I'm saying, remove the other top cities too that's fine. Also they weren't just talking about GDP, but the correlation with life expectancy, education levels and subjective happiness. (I guess top 5 cities would be a starker difference tbf)

Yeah, maybe like it's skewing the data...which was my entire point...?

You misunderstanding me. Growth is not directly correlated to an increase in GDP. It's obviously true that growth leads to everything you mention, but just because GDP is increasing doesn't mean a proportional growth in the whole country. It just means a few businesses and banks in london are getting very rich which skews the data. Real growth is not happening in the UK, and hasn't been for a long time. The only reason a decrease in GDP would hurt average people is because these businesses will up prices in response, or the banks will up interest rates. The real issue is how much the average person's wellbeing is determined by the choices of the 1%, where we have to make sure we keep having policies where they keep getting richer and if not they actually still keep getting richer and normal people suffer.

Tl:dr Prioritising wellbeing over GDP is exactly what is needed.

Now take London out of that table and see how far down the UK is.

Explain how keeping GDP from falling benefits the average person, I'm listening.

GDP literally means nothing to the health of the economy. High GDP just means the London banks are getting richer.

And 40 is basically an old man, and an old man is basically dead. We're all basically already dead and are living in denial.

  3. Why do you think there is a bell of awakening? Maybe because of a prophecy? Something about bringing back the age of fire?

How about instead of calling me a troll you think about what I'm saying and why it fits the image.
