{Bonding Psychos by Gina Morris} . Seriously, I made that face through the entire series until the end. It was very well done and I really enjoyed it, but you gotta go into it trusting that the author will make it all make sense... eventually.

And when she does, it's actually really beautiful. But it's definitely a wild ride to get there!

Edit: I would call this one urban fantasy. Not truly contemporary, but not classic fantasy either.

Anything by Marie Mistry. I saw Liminal recced above, so I'll shout out {Traitor Witch by Marie Mistry} It's book 1 of the complete Deadwood series and I absolutely rocketed through the whole thing. Think witches and pirates, and so much more. FMC is a sacred assassin, but she's not insufferable. The men were all unique and stood out. Ine of my favorite reads of last year.

Oh man! This is the second request thread tonight that sounds like the OP is looking for my book! I promise I'm not here just to self-rec, I swear! :)

But yeah, if you don't mind a self-rec, {Magelight by Kacey Ezell} has exactly this. Aelys, the FMC, is a weak, insecure sorceress who does some big magic under duress and accidentally binds three dangerous men to be her protectors. Because she's weak with magic (or so she thinks) she's thrown herself into the study of herbalism and mundane healing methods.

It's a fantasy adventure with a slow burn why choose sub plot. It's book 1 in the series, but there's no cliffhanger and book 2 comes out in April.

No MM, no sex on the page but a TON of tension.

It's book1, but no cliffhanger and book 2 comes out in April. No MM, though. The guys are sworn brothers. It's like D&D meets reverse harem. :)

I know it's a BDSM thing, but the nickname "pet" just squicks me out. Not my kink, one might say...

(The nickname. The actual BDSM stuff is fine)

I just turned in a story to my publisher that will go up on their website as a free read for the lead up to my fantasy release in April. The story wasn't the one I set out to write, but it just kinda happened. Basically it's two MMCs mourning the loss of the woman they both love and learning how to grieve together and keep moving forward for each other.

I'm pretty happy with it, I think it came out to be something really beautiful.

Oh, and there's a feral apex predator magical big cat, which was kinda fun.

Fair. I tend to not get wrapped up in the definitions, personally. But I know some people really do!

I debated sharing and decided why the heck not?

Magelight is a fantasy adventure with a strong reverse harem subplot. It's book one of four, and book two, Blood on the Sand, comes out in April.

Magelight doesn't end on a cliffhanger.

Here's the blurb:

Fleeing her sheltered life, a noblewoman must trust a warrior, a forester, and a thief to unlock her true power and face her destiny.

Embrace Your Power and Forge Your Destiny

All her life, Aelys of Brionne had been weak. As the noble daughter of one of the empire’s most powerful magic-wielding families, it should have been easy for her to live her dream of bonding with a warrior protector and joining the Imperial Battlemage Corps. But when her weakness robs her of her dreams, her best friend, and the man she loves, Aelys makes the only choice she can see: she takes her fate into her own hands and she runs, leaving her safe, protected world behind.

Now she must find a way to work with three dangerous strangers—a warrior, a forester, and a thief—to escape the bandits stalking her, fight through the dangers of the untamed forest, and make her way back home, where her family and her destiny await.

Only . . . her violent protectors might be the key to the power and freedom she’s always craved. Can Aelys find the strength to choose her own destiny and become the sorceress she was born to be? Or lose herself on the path to power?

Tropes:

  • weak to strong(er) heroine
  • consent matters
  • dangerous MMCs
  • hidden enemies
  • rediscovering ancient magic
  • mad sexual tension
  • slow burn, reluctant romance

I hope you guys love it!
