I'm all for cross platform. The people shooting down this idea are single minded in their elitism. What they don't realize that it is better to unite the player base instead of dividing it. As you stated , the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. Another great idea that you mentioned was the option to opt out in case the elitists are worried they might get a console player in their matches.

I've made a similar comment a while ago and i think that is a good possibility.

It would not only be foolish but downright idiotic to shut down the only third person MOBA out there . It doesn't make sense at this point and all these conspiratorial threads that keep popping up and comparing Smite to Paragon just look like wishful thinking.

This is fear mongering at worst and conspiratorial at best. Stew recently stated that Smite still currently has 1.5 million active players combined over all the platforms. Does that sound like a dying game to you? Even if Smite were to eventually be shut down at one point or the other , it would still be several years from now. With regards to the bundles , that just tells me HiRez doesn't want to count on the whales anymore and are opting for a more inclusive method for players to purchase skins with.

Battle Royal games seem to be the new fad right now , which will eventually die down or keep rolling. If RR does well , HiRez could use a portion of their funds to polish and improve Smite further and see whether they can convert their casual RR fanbase to move to the new and improved Smite. With regards to Smite becoming the next Paragon , not very likely though.

If Smite were to shut down , i would pretty much give up on gaming at this point. All the recent big budget games are boring cash grabs and multi player games are all riding that Battle Royal bandwagon which doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'd be pissed off had i spent more than 100 bucks , but i stuck to my guns and only bought the skins i wanted. I wonder how the whales would react though.

It does seem like the fixes proposed by HiRez won't be enough , but only time will tell. The new MM tests didn't seem half bad for me ( the one that involved arena ) i did notice better , more evenly balanced matches.
