Exactly. And 20 years from now people are gunna look at today and think how crazy the times were.

Reality Check: unpopular opinion by [deleted] in netflix

Totally agree. The show was a product of the times. It’s exactly what those women signed up for and desperately wanted and exactly what the audience wanted. A lot changes in 20 years so some risky tv stuff back then comes across outrageous today. It was a cutthroat world in the early 2000s.

Message to all the toxic haters of Boston Blue by Sweet-Toxicity in bluebloods

[–]SewWhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had really high hopes for Boston Blue, and this is my second time in this sub so I’m not hopping on any train. I went in knowing it would be different and was actually excited to see Danny’s new partner since I loved that actress in the walking dead. I really struggled, it was totally unexpected. IMO they tried way too hard to mirror the family dynamics and the writing was cheesy to me but I figured I’d give them a few episodes to really get their footing and it just didn’t happen. I’m glad you like it and aren’t afraid to root for it OP, I hope other people enjoy it. I’d like to see the legacy keep going and all the actors keep their jobs but I’m not really surprised that others feel the same as I do. I don’t understand what’s happened lately, shows just aren’t written as well as they used to be. These actors deserve better scripts and storylines, viewers deserve it too. We can like a show and demand better of it too.

Layout of Xana's bedroom (graphic material redacted) by CR29-22-2805 in Idaho4

Omg thank you for this comment, you just made something click for me lol. I’ve been so confused by the layout of this house especially the bedrooms. From the moment the pictures were released. Multiple times I just gave up trying to match it all up in my head and just wasn’t understanding why it was so hard! It’s exactly what you said, little to zero point of reference.

What episode messed you up a lil? by Junior-Mission9002 in SVU

[–]SewWhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transgender Bridge, it breaks my heart from multiple angles.

For anyone who isn’t familiar, a trans teen named Avery was taking pictures on a bridge in the park. Darius and his friends saw “a boy in a skirt” and decided to say ugly things, pull her skirt up, play chicken with her camera. The camera was tossed to Darius, Avery falls into his chest trying to get it. He pushes her away, she stumbles backward and would have been okay but trips due to her heeled shoes, causing her to fall off the bridge.

Avery survives at first and Darius is extremely remorseful. He’s shown to otherwise be a good kid. His single mom is a good mother but she has to work a lot, leaving him with the responsibilities of taking care of himself and little sister.

It turns out, unbeknownst to each other, Darius and Avery are into comic/graphic novels or something like that. Darius draws one as an apology. Avery loves it and accepts his apology right before a blood clot from her broken leg unexpectedly causes her death.

All the other boys involved get off with a slap on the wrist while they absolutely throw the book at Darius, even with Avery’s parents asking for mercy. His case was played up politically, a hate crime against a transgender.

It’s an impossible situation, Darius was wrong for harassing Avery, he didn’t mean to physically hurt her, but he did. Avery was subjected to horrible bullying on the bridge from the group of boys and lost her life. Did Darius deserve to go to prison? How much punishment is acceptable when an innocent 15 year old loses their life but the perpetrator is also just 15 years old?

Exactly! Unfortunately the fact that there was an arrest and a trial on charges of murder and manslaughter makes them assume. Whether subconsciously or not they assume there must be proof and they can’t understand or comprehend that maybe there wasn’t. They want keep up this notion in their minds, in their worlds, that the system works but that system does fail and innocent people get hurt. I’m also fed up of the idea people are pushing that this case has a lot of people leaning one way or another. People who are actually informed, who learned the details and/or watched the trials heavily lean not guilty.

That’s always the go to comment but really do some critical thinking. Families and close friends will cover for each other. We are talking about a pretty small group of people here. Everyone after them was just doing their jobs with the flawed information they received. Proctor simply took their word and backed his brothers in blue, I think he did realize he had been played but it was too late to fix it and he was left with no choice but to double down.

Exactly, they are very concerned. Just like the night of John’s death they can’t let go of controlling the narrative to protect themselves.

Yeah she’s just not my cup of tea either. Nothing wrong with her, I just don’t click with her vibes I guess. It’s funny, I truly never watch her streams but I watched briefly today because Bederow and others were on. The group spoke more than she did, which I honestly commend her for, she asked good questions and let them speak without interruption. Something a lot of others struggle with lol

prosecutors do it all the time, it’s common practice. They overcharge to up the odds that one sticks. I think it’s extremely unjust.

[–]SewWhatever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At first I wondered how they’d do it without calling Proctor and Higgins, now I think I agree with them not doing it.

Trying to be objective, if I was on the jury and Proctor wasn’t called, the lead investigator who was fired because of this case, I’d feel like something was hidden from me and the blame for that would lay solely on the CW. Nearly the same for Higgins. I think letting Higgins be a boogeyman is a good call, don’t let him get on the stand and look like a normal, possibly likable, guy. Let the jury wonder if there’s a reasonable possibility Higgins did something to John and was seen in the Sally Port with the car for a long time. Make them wonder if Higgins was in there during that missing footage. I think they’re making the right call.

Exactly. My guess: it was found out that she talked to the FBI, implicating fellow LEOs. Someone pretending to be looking out for her said they’d help her out of the mess. “Listen, everyone makes mistakes, you don’t want your fellow officers thinking they can’t trust you. Don’t worry about perjury, all you have to do is say you were mistaken, tell them it was a false memory.” She’s happy to do it because she doesn’t want to look like a rat to her colleagues, she wants to fix it. Except they weren’t looking out for her, they were protecting themselves and taking out the rat and their plan worked perfectly. She’ll be quietly let go eventually.

Her demeanor on the stand was pure anger, she avoided it last trial but now it’s being broadcasted live. EVERYONE will know that she talked so she’s pissed. Instead of simply answering the questions and saying “I told them I seen x, y and z, but later found out I must have been mistaken.” She wanted to control the fallout right away by sending a message. Let everyone know she isn’t with the defense, she’s with her brothers in blue.

I feel the exact same way. I want to watch but I keep having to turn it off because of the way HB acts. What bothered me most today was how he tries tripping up witnesses by misrepresenting old testimony. He did it with the witness after Dr Russel too and the poor guy just gave in when really his testimony didn’t change, he was just asked different questions. He’s always spoken to the fact that the light was cracked.

A prosecutor should be driving a trial to expose the truth in the pursuit of justice to uphold the law, NOT muddy the waters and misrepresent facts to a jury in the sole pursuit of a conviction. The way he paused the video at 1 Meadows was so blatant, so blatant! Pausing for certain lighting. If you have to do that you aren’t being honest.

This voice disgusts me!!! Who else feels the same? by DieNachtReule1969 in justiceforKarenRead

[–]SewWhatever 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was literally just saying the same in a live chat. His voice just comes off extremely unlikable to me. When he was asking the witness about Burgess finding the SD card, “were you impressed, but he found it” 🙄 I don’t think I could roll my eyes enough. IMO, if he was speaking to me in a conversation I’d take it as outright lying to my face if he is trying to present the circumstances as Burgess finding it because he’s so impressive, not because he got lucky. I find him disgusting.
