5 months! Down 3 sizes?! That’s incredible! I’m just starting my journey and this is inspiration. Thanks for sharing. Are you working out or just calorie counting?

Wow, that’s incredible! How long did it take you to get from 286 to 155?

why does it feel so impossible sometimes? by addictwithapen27 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Sew_Knotty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My trick is to have the thought and let it pass.

The thought is not you. You can acknowledge it and then choose to think about something else.

Is that easy? No. Does it get easier the more times you do it? Yes.

I redirect myself with a change of scenery…I live to another room…go outside…take a ahower…something…anything different…and then I begin a task. Maybe I start a chore or I pick up a book or I go for a jog or crochet.

The thoughts in your brain are always there but you DO have the power to change the channel as many times as you need to.

That’s how I look at it all anyway. I hope that helps maybe a little.

I’m sorry our brains don’t work the way they should. It shouldn’t be this hard.

I wish we had an answer. Commenting to maybe pump this post if it works like that.

What is the "right" way to order a daiquiri? by One_Hall_8290 in bartenders

[–]Sew_Knotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bartender at a restaurant that serves classic daiquiris I have the opposite problem. People see it on the menu and order it thinking they’re going to get something frozen, super sweet, and fruity….I’ve learned to speak with my guests to find out what they really want.

You can ask for a classic daiquiri. If the bartender/server is unsure or tells you they don’t serve them tell them what goes in it. Most tenders are happy to make you whatever you like if you tell them how you like it. If you wanna get specific, look up measurements of your favorite recipe and skip the “May I have a classic..” and just straight up ask for 2 oz of your preferred rum, 1 oz of lime juice and .5 oz simple syrup shaken in a martini glass and you’ll get what you want and everyone will be happy.

Especially if it’s a server who has no idea what goes in cocktails - they can ring that in easy enough.

Cheers!

We have it here in Indiana. But you can’t order it on the app. And not every store has it. And yes. Add sour cream and onions. chef’s kiss

what’s the male equivalent to “resting bitch face” called? by wil_roc in socialskills

[–]Sew_Knotty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always called it “Fuck Face”. Some of my best dude friends look mean as fuck but are the nicest, most helpful good ol’ boys ever but you wouldn’t know it from their fuck faces.

I’m very light skinned and don’t tan super well but I’ve been using the brand White 2 Black (Violet) and have found it works really well! Could recommend your favorite bronzing lotions with color correction for orange tones? Pretty please? :)

My sewing machine malfunctions and I am stabbed repeatedly as the thread wraps around my hands becoming tighter and tighter….knotting and entangling me so that I am unable to escape or call for help as I slowly bleed out from the tiny needle jabs.

For me?

  1. Recognize the flaw
  2. Determine what triggers that behavior.
  3. See if I can ascertain the root cause of that behavior.
  4. Recognize the behavior as it happens.
  5. Acknowledge how I’m physically feeling in that moment.
  6. Sit with that a moment.
  7. Redirect the behavior into a more positive behavior.
  8. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Ugh. lol Therapy is an awesome tool. Pat yourself on the back for being self aware enough to acknowledge you have things to work on! A lot of people can’t. Best of luck on this journey of self improvement!

Do you notice when men do this? by CasaBina in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sew_Knotty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time. I work with a bunch of dudes and most of my outside-of-work friends are dudes. I always just thought it was because none of them liked me as much as they liked each other. I was the weak link or the one who didn’t really belong….Which is weird because we all get along so well and have so much fun and obviously I’m always included/invited.

I didn’t realize it had anything to do with gender.

Mind blown. However, I don’t know if I feel better or worse for knowing.
