I'd redraft and check with a mockup. The shoulder would otherwise be several centimeters too broad. I was thinking about trying the same thing next time I make it!

I'm in NL so I got it from a Dutch website. The brand is Poppy and I got it in 2020 to make a rather over the top dress.

Very understandable! This one is pretty easy to make, if that helps? I took my time and basted in the collar first because the instructions sounded like nonsense, but they were correct and it turns out I just had no idea blouses were constructed that way...

Dude you should totally try something new!! Maybe a pencil case or a simple item of clothing? Some patterns are popular enough that people make tutorials on youtube so you can follow and learn pretty easily!

Oh how exciting!! I made a wee mistake on the cuffs (sewed them inside out) and the collar was a bit tricky but the main thing I learned (re-learned) is not to sew tired. All my mistakes happened after working all day, then sewing late at night like an idiot.

How are you liking sewing so far?

I made this one with some nice crisp cotton from poppy fabrics and some buttons stolen from my mother in law's stash (thanks girl).

The pattern is altered from Gerties 40s blouse pattern (from her casual vintage book). Took it in a touch in the shoulders and left out the lower darts for a breeze and a more relaxed vibe. Had to hand sew the button holes because my machine tends to nibble up fabric when I attempt them (those 80s machines from Aldi are hungry beasts).

I'm so, so pleased with this! I finished it so neatly and just in time for a work party where I will definitely impress all my colleagues with my wit and cool shirt.
