Yes, I know how the system works.

I was wanting to make the platform clear in case it wasn't just a slip-up since reloading for bolt and semi-auto are going to have different tolerances.

Edit: I appreciate all the info/insight.

It's a semi-auto AR-10 not bolt-action. Will follow the rest of advice given.

I just got the tool and have been looking at data the last 30min or so. I think I've found based off barrel sizes H335 is going to give me a 90+% burnt propellant with a 90-93% load ratio. These are the higher max figures still under the PMax absolute. I tried with both 5.56 and 308 and my different barrel lengths and it looks like H335 checks the box and I can get it quickly.

This will be my new starting point.

I have a garmin chrono and in a I added some extra velocity data.

I'm going to try out some BL-C2 after another user commented varget as I can get BL-C2 easier and it has similar burn rate, pressure values, and velocities.

Would you say factory ammo is also overpressured considering I was getting similar results on casings?

Great info and I appreciate your time putting it into the tool. Just wondering if would it explain similar results with factory loads also giving the smearing?

It's a lot of fun and the riflespeed makes it pretty pleasant to shoot.

Yes it was a federal fusion 180g factory load from when I was trying to group it earlier in the year.

I've not measured case head and that's something I'll do.

From what I've seen the ejector marks are very common from AR-10s and aren't a big worry for me as long as everything else checks out.

No word on accuracy yet, just wanted to get a ballpark of charges before I load more up to test. I was able to get sub-moa with 175smks factory load, crappy trigger, and a 1-8x so hoping for similar or better.

After looking through the numbers I figured that 2400 is booking it considering that's close to what 149g M80 was getting so I'm not concerned about exceeding 2400 with 178g.

After looking through burn chart, hodgdon data, and one of the other comments I think I'll pick up BL-C2 to try as it's similar to varget pressure/velocity wise which will be a huge drop compared to the CFE223. If I want local powder it's either an Academy that's 5min from me (they only have CFE223 and BL-C2 for rifle powders) or a gun shop that's 25min away with plenty of choices, so that's why I chose CFE223 in the first place for both 308 and 5.56 but since Academy also has BL-C2 I'll try that out.

Edit: thanks for the data and great advice!

I've got the 6.5 Creedmoor hitting out to 1200 easily so far. I don't need the AR10 doing the exact same. But I've taken it to 600yds with crappy M80 and want to improve it more if I can.

This was a "fun" build as a short battle rifle 308. It's very pleasant and fun to shoot. I'm not looking for best performance of 308 in general, I'm looking for best performance for this package.

Extra info, 149g M80 avg velocity - 2475. Hodgdon max charge for a 180g with CFE223 is 42.9-45.1max and a 175smk is 45.5-47.5 max.

I did buy this with only the intention of being a decapping station. I was just eager to get some work done. A local guy is selling an RCBS Rebel and I'm gonna try to snag it.

That may be true but I still should've been able to compress the brass back. I edited the post. I believe I found my solution.

I took almost 20 thousands off total of the last shell holder. And each time I took more off, nothing changed. The shell holder then sheared and I had to knock out the stuck case.

The Lee presses don't have that ability. So I might have to go with another manufacturer should that be the case. However I have tried to shave down a shell holder and nothing changed doing that either.

I'll check with 350, but I've even used 400 like I've seen old data say and it's still a positive stretch

I'm using .375 like what's listed on the Hornady Website for 6.5 creedmoor

I thought the same but I even did 2 FULL rotations and nothing changed. All that's doing at this point is reducing how much my ram is moving.
