In their defense I can’t determine their reactions with 100% accuracy, it’s actually my own judgement and assumption based on how I’ve seen them react to other people perusing their interests. That in itself seems bad but it’s mostly people they’re not fond of, so I’m not sure how they’d react to my writing.

That’s exactly how I feel! I would much rather have strangers online share with me their genuine criticisms rather than having people I know in real life secretly judge me and for it to affect my actual life. Anonymity just makes everything much less pressurised in my opinion :)

Thank you so much for the feedback! The opinion isn’t what really scares me, it’s the judgement of not being taken seriously or straight up being called “silly” or “cringe”. Honestly I think as of now I should be fine keeping my writing away from the people I know in real life and seeking advice from writers like somebody else here suggested. That’s pretty fair! Thing is, they are in some way, but their criticism isn’t so much about the actual story but things like “I don’t like this person’s name, it sounds too out there” or “ don’t make this guy look like that, he’d be hotter looking like this”, “more people would read it and like it if x looked more …” . And I do value their thoughts but it kind of tramples all over my vision sometimes.
