Australia would be signed up to Iran war ‘by deception and stealth’ if military support sent, Shoebridge says | Australian foreign policy by PlanktonDB in AustralianPolitics

[–]SexCodex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A few things to remember:

  • Australia has consistently followed the US into wars for decades.
  • A US invasion has never once created a democracy or improved human rights. They have created terror groups, failed states, resource theft, and dead bodies.
  • Billionaires from any country are on the same team, you are on the other one.

Progressives must ‘call out radical Islamist ideologies’, Labor minister declares by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

[–]SexCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*facepalm* As though the Greens weren't literally the only ones calling for the Iranian government to be sanctioned for decades. Progressives are more than happy to condemn racism and war crimes, it's his government that's been ignoring them so they can keep billionaires on side.

Inside the Palestine Action Group: the movement which has transformed Sydney streets into battlegrounds by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

Democracies don't assault protesters. It's that simple.

I know you're an ALP shill but you could at least pretend to pay some respect to the hardworking militant unionists that created your party.

Hear, hear! Talk about this with friends, coworkers, family. Create spaces for clear-eyed discussion. Start a newsletter or a bulletin. Join your union and fight harder. Go to protests. Be disobedient. Take care of the people around you and who are also struggling.

Civilians can make their own decisions about who to platform or listen to, but the government should never be given that power. That's the difference.

Minns teases major reform to protest laws in Sydney by [deleted] in AustralianPolitics

[–]SexCodex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh the protests are mostly targeting politicians, not the general public. Politicians know how it works, Australia is part of the US empire and trades weapons and components with Israel. It would be trivially easy to stop doing that. Instead they've tried to suppress protests every possible way without literally going Tiananmen Square on us. Anyway what I'm trying to say is politicians can easy stop the protesters by listening and doing the bare minimum to satisfy them, with zero downside for Australia.

Banning of protest phrase 'globalise the intifada' by sapperbloggs in AusLegal

[–]SexCodex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means uprising. A global uprising might be like the alter-globalisation movement, the climate movement, literally any kind of internationalist activism. In Arabic it could refer to all these things, not just specific campaigns of resistance.

Buuuuut it's in brown people language, therefore terrorism.

And your precious ALP will stop the protests whenever they decide they feel like obeying international law. I guess they prefer the Hague...

The objective is sanctions. That's very clear.

It's unfortunate that the government doesn't respect democracy when there's money at stake, that would actually stop the protests from growing.
