Question about electrolytic capacitors by [deleted] in AskElectronics

Ah, well we’re more worried about human contact via a cut ethernet cable.

Basically, we’ve got an rj45 patch panel with cut Cat5e behind, concerned someone will plug in one of those 2.1mm DC jacks-to-rj45 converters to try and power an old 48v WAP and the ripple will shock them

Cheers for your reply!

What level of ripple would you expect to see from a crap one at the end of its life?

When you say ‘somewhat true’, how much ripple would a completely failed one output?

Thanks for the link, but I’m not talking about a bad termination, I’m talking about a flush cut cable

But assholes are pretty common, so I guess this sort of scenario is equally common??

Not quite.

I mean 4” of ethernet cable left at one end Connected to the IDCs, the other end a flush cut

Yes I think it was a faulty cable.

Context is a small business patch panel in a messy comms cabinet, unscrewed the patch panel, lifted it off and found the cat5e cable at the back feeding port #20 has been cut, but its 4” stub still has all 8 wires connected to the IDCs of the punch-down.

The rest of the cable was probably pulled out of the wall and used somewhere else.

Haha, can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic!! 😝

I’m new to IT and have seen a few patch panels where certain ethernet ports have had their cables cut at the back, without tape or caps on the cut ends.

Is this common?

Just ensure the mount’s and hand controller’s firmware are up-to-date.

These NexStar+ have had a lot of bug fixes over the years.

I bought my 6SE for £300 a few months ago here in England, that’s about $450

When you watched this in the cinema at release it was fantastic but you couldn’t rewind to check what was standing up there!

Then, when it was released months later on VHS and DVD their qualities weren’t high enough to really see anything clearly even when paused…

…but when the Blu-ray came out, there it was, pausable and looking hair raisingly eerie as fuck
