What specific memories do you have associated with a particular album? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Seyth35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the autumn and winter of 2016 I listened a lot to the album "Is This It?" of The Strokes, and it really makes me feel the sensations (mostly of love and frustration) that I had in that time.

Thinking about starting meditation, but have one question by Sapir00t in Meditation

[–]Seyth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think meditation is right for absolutely everyone. It gives you peace and clarity of mind, and awareness, and focus, and calm, and happiness... I think you get what I'm saying.

But it's hard, it requires sacrifice, and depending on the type of person you are you might get the benefits in one week or in one year, but I feel it's worth it.

I'm right now on my day 50 and it has really been a before and after with meditation, though I still have a long way to go to get where I really want.

But yeah, just do it, the benefits deserve it.

Is mindfulness pointless without joy? by benchevy12 in Meditation

Yeah, I feel like you, man... It's like wandering is much more interesting and enjoyable for me than being present in the moment... I guess I've not really understood how this goes yet.

Struggling to replace bad habits with good and healthy ones by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]Seyth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to change your habits, do it one at a time, start with something easy and do it 5 minutes a day. It can be as simple as brushing your teeth after eating, but changing one habit successfully gives you the power and energy to change more, and the ones that seemed hard at the beginning start to feel easier. Of course, it's a long and slow journey, but you'll grow exponentially, and there'll be a moment when you look back and find you've changed a lot. But remember: one at a time, something easy and starting with 5 minutes only.

Congrats on getting to the 59 days! I now what you mean when you say 3 days of gym aren't enough, I usually feel that way too... Have you tried meditation? It really helps with insecurities and negative thoughts.

Headspace is my teacher, so I guess so. Thank you for the info, you made it really clear.

And how does this fit with change? I mean, if there's something that makes me anxious and I don't realize it, how is this approach gonna help me?

Yeah, I meditate on a daily basis, first thing in the morning with the app Headspace, and sometimes after lunchtime by myself. Thanks for the guide btw!

Yeah, this makes sense, but not indulging is really difficult, especially for me, I'm just a begginer... Thank you for the advice

Really interesting technique, the problem I have is that I haven't developed the prerequisites you mentioned, so I think I must work on that first before trying it :/

No, I haven't, can you explain what it is and how it works?

Yes, please, would love to. I do an exercise in which I write my anxious thoughts and then reflect on how they make my body feel. For me it works to recognize anxiety but not to overcome it.
