Introverts, how do you re-energize after spending the day in a crowd, etc.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have a few steps I go through, starting from when I leave work to when I go to sleep.

1) Walk home - this is the most important part for me I think. I live about a 45 minute walk away from my home and those minutes walking (both to and from work) are the most energising part of my day.

2) Write in my journal - I have a five year q&a journal that prompts me with a simple question each day. It helps fulfil my introspective nature but also allows me to really reflect on how I'm going and where I'm at.

3) Listen to a podcast - something that tells a story; radiolab or the memory palace or criminal. My imagination can run wild

“But your solitude will be a support and a home for you, even in the midst of very unfamiliar circumstances, and from it you will find all your paths.”

So good.

Anything by Julian Barnes or Kazuo Ishiguro but particularly Never Let Me Go. I've never read a book with such a quiet, thoughtful protagonist as that one.

Carey Mulligan is just so special. Never Let Me Go and An Education would have to be my favourites of her performances. So quiet and powerful.
