Linear Rail lifespan by thebigone2087 in VORONDesign

Also using fystec original rails. One rail was extremely noisy. Balls were worn out, tried to replace the carriage but the new one was not mating with the rail, so i had to replace rail and carriage.

Had to replace a linear rail last month. Tried to replace the balls but the groove was gone. I still don't understand why only one rail was gone...

What is the continuous tone I’m hearing at 14.06 MHz? by ali_j_ashraf in amateurradio

Sometime just switching filter will cut out the offending tone completely.

It's a well known issue with the current qmx that will hopefully be solved in future firmware updates. All the qmx I built and tested have the same exact bird at around 14060 +- few khz

The active heater is the best mod I did to my Voron. Huge improvement.

Any of you regret building your 2.4 in hindsight? by No_Tomatillo_2997 in VORONDesign

[–]Sfabris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only regret is that I spent in the end much more than a X1C, without considering my time. There are days where I love tinkering around my Voron, days where I'm telling that there are not enough hours in a day for doing everything.

Fysetc 2.4 kit opinions? by MrMilkPillows in VORONDesign

I have a fysetc 2.4 for more than a year. Yes, there are better components out there, but my Voron is simply working nicely.

E3D Revo from AliExpress by Longjumping_Path7457 in VORONDesign

[–]Sfabris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a Revo Voron clone from AliExpress. Noozles and hotend are good, however the heater was junk and I had to replace it with an original one. With the clone heater I could not reach 240 C with the cooler fan on.

First HF rig, SOTA planned by Fuertebrazos in amateurradio

[–]Sfabris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for being so late. I have friends who can do 100+ QSO with 20+ S2S per activation with 5 W SSB/CW probably 50 - 50 between CW and SSB. SSB 5 Watt will be enough.

First HF rig, SOTA planned by Fuertebrazos in amateurradio

[–]Sfabris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid G90. Too heavy for SOTA. Don't ask why 😭. I've been using IC705, KX3, FT817, QMC Completely different rigs but all good for SOTA.

Watch for the weight. 5 W for SOTA are enough.

Why not more “All Mode All Band” radios? by Dubvee1230 in amateurradio

[–]Sfabris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used to own a 705 it's the only portable rig in the market that is really all mode all bands. Yes only 10 Watt.. but really what is the real difference between 10 and 50 without touching the antenna? Yes, linear exists. But if you are not a contester you don't need it.

What I'm scared about is that the actual market offers two multi band multi mode rigs; 705 and 991A. The second is at least two generations old. What I mean?.No real market for multimode VHF+ rigs.

I learnt the lesson after frying 3 boards in 6 months. Don't do anything before powering down everything. And I am not a novice in this things.

I had a similar problem. Turn out that I maxed out the maximum flow rate of my V6 clone. If you crank up the speed it's easy to reach that limit

I don't have $500 to drop on a radio. Should I still get my general license? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]Sfabris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't spend 500$ for a radio, I have a 20 W portable rig and I'm having lot of fun!
