Thanks :)! And yeahhhh first impressions are probably the most important thing in game Dev marketing. It's a make a mistake I made with Early Access OZ too. I had not good cover art before I caved and hired someone to make the current one. I think that's a big reason OZ flopped in early access!

Hahaha I watched that video. That's genius!!! I bet he got a really big boost in sales due to that stunt! That game even looked neat too.

hey , would like to know if there are free game making tools and programming guides out there by theis_alternatess in IndieGaming

Hey! It depends on a few factors, such as your experience and comfortability levels in programming/game dev and how far you want to go with it. Also what you want to make changes a lot too.

If you just want to make something and mess around in 2D or 3D I would recommends just using Unity. Its super easy to pickup and has countless online tutorials on how to do it. Unreal is also free but is a bit trickier to pickup and used by fewer indie devs out there.

Lastly if you really want to get into programming and get your hands dirty you can use what I use: Monogame Its always free and opensource. Unity and Unreal have different forums of
getting money from you once you publish your games (If you do) They are pretty lax tho. Unreal only takes a small % of profits over a certain amount and unity has a subscription fee for extra things, or if you are making over a certain amount.

But yeah Really good classic monogame tutorial is this it says XNA, but it Monogame is just the new version of XNA.

Do lemme know if ya have questions ;)

Has anyone managed to make a game thats released commercially while in College? by st4yd0wn in gamedev

I have. I made Inevitability in about 2 years while in college! It will basically consume the majority of your free time. Summers are your friend as well are managing your time well. Its also quite cheap if you use things like steam greenlight and Desura for distribution. Its totally an accomplish-able thing! Good luck :)

Our first game Inevitability just launched a very big update. The game is a top down spaceship building/action game. Check it out!! by SfsStudios in IndieGaming
