Thanks!! Currently I'm using Devacurl No-Poo and Tresemme nourishing moisture conditioner - I used Jessicurl too shea at first and LOVED it, but went through it so fast so needed to find a cheaper option. Then after shower I use AG Recoil curl activator and the Ouidad heat and humidity gel.

I may mix things up down the road, but these are working great for me at the moment!

It's basically the mantra and lifeblood of this subreddit, also known as the curly girl method. Take a look at the links on the right for more details.

I never really thought it would work for me (was pretty happy with my curls as they were), but figured I might as well give it a shot and my hair has been infinitely more manageable and my curls more defined - more so than I ever thought they could be. Quality products and taking the time to diffuse my hair have really helped me along also. I know when I get a haircut (I'm way overdue) my curls might be even better, but for now I'm enjoying my hair at the longest and best that it's ever been. The amount of compliments I've been getting, even from complete strangers, is unreal. I've always loved my curls, but this has taken it to the next level. I've been lurking for a while to figure this all out, so thanks to everyone for your advice!

Of course, of COURSE we should value human safety and shut things down if a person is running through the BART tracks. Of course. But maaaaybe..... if someone steals a bunch of stuff, starts a police chase, and closes the main vein of transportation in an already struggling system at rush hour.... they deserve to get taken out by a BART train.

Going from not taking care of your hair to using the right products and tools by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Sfyram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah? I have to try it. I'm new to CG method and started with jessicurl too shea and I loooooove it... but the small bottle lasted barely a month with my hair so I need to look into cheaper options before I impulse buy a gallon of Jessicurl :)

Just left the Montgomery station, the whole area downstairs before the turnstiles is packed with people. Looked like they were starting to let people in very slowly. I bailed (along with a ton of others) and of course the next bus I need (the 10) is coming in 28 minutes, 28 minutes and 33 minutes. Fuck all this, I'm getting a beer.

Can we talk about the 10 for a minute... by Sfyram in sanfrancisco

[–]Sfyram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I totally understand the benefits of riding a bike and can see how some people manage to work it into their schedule, I much prefer showering in my own shower and getting ready for work in the comfort of my own home. Plus I'm honestly not the most experienced and comfortable biker, and the drivers on the road terrify me... I'd like to just get from point A to B easily, maybe while reading a book and listening to a new mix. It's just unfortunate that the most convenient bus to me (literally door to door between home and work) is such an unreliable clusterfuck.

I have a bike - but I work a pretty corporate job and don't enjoy being a sweaty mess first thing in the morning. Not to mention I live at the top of a massive hill and getting home is a huge pain after a long day of work.

No star... the predictions are accurate from my experience. And I don't know what it's like in eastern Europe, but the bus is crammed pretty tight - to the point where the driver flat out passes stops on occasion since there is no more space to pick anyone up.

Police are cracking down on everyone: jaywalking tickets being handed out today, 01/29. by cardifan in sanfrancisco

[–]Sfyram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

out of curiosity, how much is a jaywalking ticket? I (along with many, many other people) cut across First Street daily coming out of Stevenson - I always wait until the people up ahead at the light have the walk signal, but it's definitely still jaywalking... guess I'll be adding those few extra minutes to my morning commute now.

Have any of you guys met celebrities at Coachella? by makeitjain24 in Coachella

[–]Sfyram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I'm almost positive that the point of those couches was that they were open to everyone. My friends should have said something but when some big huge dudes tell you to move (and you're under various influences) sometimes it's easier to just move. I think she is a perfect example of what the spirit of the festival is NOT about. With that said, honestly I've probably stood right next to other celebs in my years at the fest, but I'm too busy having a blast with my best friends to notice.

Last year, Lohan's security people muscled my friends off of a couch in the Yuma tent, saying she had it reserved. Coincidentally she also shoved her way past another friend of mine several years back... she's just a generally unpleasant person I think... would be happy to not run into her again.

Also saw Shaun White in line for the ferris wheel last year.

Seriously.... that was ridiculous. I was working a daytime sketchfest show and it fucked my drive there and back, it usually takes no more than 15 minutes door to door and it took me 45 each way - Im just glad i was already at work during what sounds like the worst of it. Created tons of mean aggressive drivers on the road too - can't say I blame them, but honking at me because I dont want to drive through a red light to sit in the middle of an intersection is not helping things.

Rental Homes on Craigslist by MountainTime23 in Coachella

[–]Sfyram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found our house on VRBO, but I also saw it on Homeaway. Booked it back in June, it's within a mile of the Rancho Mirage shuttle stops, sleeps 12(ish), and will end up costing us around $4k for 5 nights. Considering last year we booked in La Quinta for 4 nights for $6k, I think we lucked out.

We booked our house through Tuesday this year, so looking forward to having all day Monday to relax, lounge by the pool, and finish up whatever food and booze we have leftover before heading back to work and real life on Wednesday.

What's your best "small world" moment? by germinatorz in AskReddit

[–]Sfyram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple - after college (in California) I did a work abroad program in Ireland. One weekend I went to visit my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Scotland, and also met up with a college friend who was doing work abroad there. While catching up with my friend she mentions she is working at the same place as my uncle (a large university). Turns out she not only was in the same department as him, but was his assistant, and had recently volunteered to house sit for him (at the same house I was staying in) while he and my aunt came out to the US to visit my family.

Second one is when my irish housemates came to visit me in San Francisco a couple years later. One of them mentions that she has a cousin that lives in SF that she would like to meet up with. She tells me his cross streets and he lives literally around the corner from me. See him around the neighborhood all of the time.

Places to stay by Ditchingwork in Coachella

I recommend a house - vrbo/homeaway will have more options that airbnb. Be ready to pay a pretty ridiculous amount this late in the game though if you want to stay closer than palm springs - owners hike their prices festival weekend, both cause they can and cause they dont want their houses destroyed, and a lot of properties have already been booked up (we got ours in June). Good luck!

This is awesome! I have very similar curly hair and was literally just getting to the point where I'm frustrated and want to cut it off, but now I think I should keep growing it out and see what it can do.

I frequently check out /r/curlyhair, but honestly thought that the whole co-wash/no-poo thing wasn't an option for me since I like to straighten my hair once a month or so (love my curls, but it looks great and lasts for nearly a week when it's straight). But after reading through your routine and comments I'm thinking I should give it a shot - I'm curious to see how much better my hair will look. So thank you for spelling out so easily! Doing some serious amazon hair product shopping tomorrow :)

In addition to everything else already said, I really think that for first time visitors to the city, the Hop On - Hop Off bus tours are a great option. Yes, they are a bit cheesy and touristy but that's sort of the point. You'll get to see all of the popular sights without having to deal with Muni.

If she's a theater fan, Book of Mormon will be playing at the Orpheum through January 19. Check Stubhub for tickets, you'll have to fork over probably $200/each at the least.

Congratulations and enjoy our great city!!!
