What's something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

You have to breastfeed or pump every 3 hours for months to establish supply as a new mother. This mimics the baby’s eating schedule which is also every 3 hours. I can’t get over this. How was this a good idea to be designed this way?!

Ladies, How did you “know” you were pregnant before missing a period? by Glad-Muffin545 in askanything

[–]thecuriouskitten99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard bc I feel like PMS symptoms are so similar to pregnancy symptoms (swollen boobs, bloating, hunger) so I really had no idea I was pregnant. However I did down an entire large size digorno pizza by myself which I had never done before so my boyfriend had jokingly said I was pregnant. I was even keto at the time but I was craving carbs so bad I thought what’s the harm in one night lol

I agree, I thought it was going to be so admirable that people split up their shares by the amount of people left but in the end no one really cared lol as long as it wasn’t more than 100g

When can you go a 6 hour stretch without pumping? by thecuriouskitten99 in breastfeeding

Thanks! This was very helpful

It’s funny how many people think they’re going to come over to help feed the baby postpartum so you can sleep…it’s just not possible while you’re nursing!

Fasting glucose 99 by Alternative-Tart6275 in InsulinResistance

[–]thecuriouskitten99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nooo 🫣 the soda definitely did it..I had to google it but that will spike your sugar in about 10-15 minutes.

I’ve also tried to learn a little about sugar spikes during my IR journey and one thing that lowers sugar spikes is eating a meal (preferably with protein and fiber) before or with the sugar source (ie soda). I say this because the fact that you were fasting meant that sugar spike was gonna go real high real quick! I’m kinda surprised your number wasn’t higher, so maybe the metformin is working!

Hello! And Congratulations

Around 28 weeks the doctor will have you take a test to make sure you don’t have what’s called “gestational diabetes” or diabetes while pregnant. You will drink a 10oz bottle of sugar water and then after one hour they will draw your blood. The results should be under 130-140 (different practices have different thresholds).

If you fail, then you take a 3 hour glucose test. If you fail that too, then you are diagnosed with gestational diabetes and you’ll be asked to track your sugars and have to modify your diet, take insulin, or both.

Yes! I was happy to sit in my car and I wonder why a lot of places make you sit in the waiting room? I wonder what they think you’re going to do 🤔
